RCC81 – Celebrations

This month’s challenge theme over on the Ribbon Carousel blog is Celebrations. Coudln’t be much easier than that, right. All you have to do to enter, is make a projects that fits the team and has a ‘spooled’ item on it. For this birthday card I chose to go with masking tape. * Het challenge thema van deze maand op het blog van Ribbon Carousel is Celebrations. Het kan niet veel eenvoudiger worden dan dat, niet. Het enige wat je moet doen om deel te nemen, is een project creëren, dat past bij het thema en een ‘gespoeld’ item heeft. Voor mijn verjaardagskaart koos ik dit keer voor masking tape.

I had this pen chipboard shape from BasicGrey in my stash, and I thought it would go well with this written sentiment from Penny Black. And so the theme of this card became clear. The background paper and the two tickets are from BasicGrey papers. The inksplatters are made with Studio Calico’s Pinstripe spray ink. * Ik had die chipboard pen van BasicGrey in mijn voorraad, en Ik dacht dat ze misschien wel leuk zou zijn samen met die geschreven wens van Penny Black.En zo werd het thema van deze kaart meteen duidelijk. Het achtergrond papier en de twee ticketjes zijn van BasicGrey papier. De inktspatten zijn gemaakt met Studio Calico’s Pinstripe spray inkt.

Ribbon Carousel 2nd Birthday Blog Hop

Here’s my card that I made for this occasion. I went for an elegant look with a die-cut flower in white cardstock. The shape is one that I bought in the Silhouette online store. I added some glitter tape and silver baker’s twine to make the card more festive.

She Did It | myStamp BOX April Showcase

There is a new showcase up on the myStamp BOX blog today. All ladies of the design team made a project based on the colors of this picture. I played with my color mists again and made a layout. * Er is een nieuwe showcase op het myStamp BOX blog vandaag. Alle dames van het design team maakten een project gebaseerd op de kleuren van deze foto. Ik speelde opnieuw met kleurmists en maakte een layout.

Nora was never interested in a pacifier. From the moment she was able to bring her little hands to her mouth, she found all comfort in her thumb. Around this time last year, we thought she was getting too old for it, and encouraged her to do without. In the daytime I used to wrap bandaids around her thumbs, she stayed off. But at night she just went on sucking her thumb. And then, first day of summer break, I painted her nails. She instantly stopped. * Nora is nooit geïnteresseerd geweest in een tutje. Vanaf het moment dat ze haar handjes naar haar mond wist te brengen, vond ze alle troost in haar duim. Rond deze tijd vorig jaar vonden we dat ze zo stilaan wel te groot begon te worden voor duimen, en probeerden we haar te stimuleren het zonder te doen. Overdag legde ik pleisters op haar duimen, ze bleef eraf. Maar ‘s nachts ging ze gewoon door. En toen, de eerste dag van de grote vakantie, mocht ze een keertje nagellak. Ze stopte onmiddellijk met duimzuigen.

I really had to capture this in my scrapbooks. It was a big struggle and I was so proud of my girl for finally overcoming this habit. Since I’m not really a big fan of purple and so the purple supplies in my stash are really limited, I chose to use spray inks on my background. * Dit moest echt vastgelegd worden in mijn album. Het was een heuse strijd en ik was zo trots op mijn meid toen ze eindelijk deze gewoonte overwon. Aangezien ik niet echt een fan ben van paars, en het aantal paarse spullen in mijn voorraad beperkt is, koos ik ervoor om spuitinkt voor mijn achtergrond te gebruiken. 

I first applied a good layer of gesso, allowed to dry, and then added misting and water. Adding water allows you to move the colors around on your page. The colors get slightly lighter, and can be spread over a larger part of the paper. I dried everything with my heat gun. Then I added stamping with the Timelines set behind my picture. * Ik bracht eerst een laag gesso aan, die ik liet drogen, en spoot dan inkt en water op mijn layout. Water toevoegen zorgt ervoor dat je de kleuren kan laten rondbewegen op je blad. De kleuren worden iets lichter, en je kan ze over een groter deel van je pagina verspreiden. Ik droogde alles met mijn heat gun en stempelde dan met de Timelines set achter mijn foto.

The title is build with the small wood veneer alphas by Studio Calico. The hearts and seals on this layout are stamped with myStamp BOX’ Seal It! set. The arrow is from the Road Trip set, the sentiment from the Small Greetings set. * De titel is met de kleine houten lettertjes van Studio Calico gemaakt. De hartjes en zegels op deze layout zijn gestempeld met de myStamp BOX Seal It! set. De pijl is van de Road Trip set, de wens van de Small Greetings set.

RCC80 – Showers & Flowers

This months challenge theme over on the Ribbon Carousel blog is Showers & Flowers, perfect for April. It’s a pretty versatile theme. For my card I mixed some old with new. I used papers from the Promise Me 6×6 paper pad by SEI. A beautiful soft colored collection, with really fabulous designs. The floral background is one of my favorites from this paper pad. * Het challenge thema van deze maand of het blog van Ribbon Carousel is Showers & Flowers, perfect voor april. Het is een thema met zeer veel mogelijkheden. Voor mijn kaart mixte is oud en nieuw. Ik gebruikte papier van het Promise Me 6×6 paper pad van SEI. Een mooie zacht gekleurde collectie, met prachtige designs. De gebloemde achtergrond is één van mijn favorieten van dit papierblok.

I used a cameo from Maya Road, to the lady I added some white acrylic paint and Liquid Pearls for shimmer. The smaller oval is covered with patterned paper, the gold oval shape is also from this same collection by SEI. I thought it matched the atmosphere of the card perfectly. * Ik gebruikte een cameo van Maya Road, de dame schilderde ik eerst wit met acrylverf, en dan bracht ik een laagje Liquid Pearls aan voor een beetje glans. De kleinere ovaal is bekleed met dessinpapier, de gouden ovaal is van ook van dezelfde collectie van SEI. Ik vond dat dit perfect pastte bij de sfeer van deze kaart.

To finish up the card I tied some vintage seam binding around it, and added one of those paper flowers from Prima that were still in my stash from a long time ago. I love it when I can use one of those older items, and it still looks good. Do you still have some of these hanging around in your supplies? * Om de kaart af te werken strikte ik er vintage seam binding rond, en kleefde nog één van die papieren bloemetjes van Prima van jaren geleden vast. Ik vind het altijd heel erg fijn als ik zo’n ouder item kan gebruiken, en het er goed kan doen uitzien. Hebben jullie er zo nog rondhangen tussen jullie spullen?

I Wish | Scrapperin April ColorLab

 

Today a new Color Lab post went up on the Scrapperin blog. Felicitas chose a divine color combo to get inspired by and this is what I ended up with. I used a bunch of masking tape for this layout, and just placed one strip under another along the right side of my page. * Vandaag is er een nieuwe Color Lab post of het blog van Scrapperin. Felicitas koos een prachtige kleurencombinatie om je te inspireren en dit is waar ik mee eindigde. Ik gebruikte een aantal rolletjes masking tape voor deze layout, en plaatste strookjes onder elkaar aan de rechterzijde van de pagina.

After adhering the strips of tape down, I ran my layout through my sewing machine. And then I added embellishments overtop to give the page more texture and dimension. These items are really a mishmash of old and new, different brands and different collections. * Nadat ik de strookjes opkleefde, haalde ik mijn layout ook een paar keer door de naaimachine. Nadien plaatste ik er embellishments overheen voor extra textuur en dimensie. Deze items zijn echt een allegaartje van oud en nieuw, verschillende merken en  verschillende collecties.

All stamps used on this layout are from Scrapperin’s Belle Pastel set. How cute is that bow! At the bottom and top I also used some of Heidi Swapp’s rub-ons. * All stempels die ik op deze layout gebruikte zijn van Scrapperin’s Belle Pastel set. Ik vind die strik zo schattig! Bovenaan en onderaan gebruikte ik ook nog enkele rub-ons van Heidi Swapp.

I Think You’re Amazing | BasicGrey Hey Girl

Today BasicGrey’s Hey Girl collection is at show here on my blog. I made the most beautiful and sweet mini-album with this collection, which I cannot show you unfortunately since it is out for publication. That stinks, and is sweet all at the same time. I promise I will share it once I can. But for today I have this layout.

The patterned papers with the butterflies was instantly one of my favorites, so I definitely wanted to use that one. But since it’s rather busy, I chose to use just a smaller portion and to tone it down with calmer patterns surrounding it. I tore away the lower right corner of the ledger paper and did the same with the brown chevron. The butterfly pattern I placed underneath. Of course I don’t have 3 layers of paper on top of each others, I cut away wathever was not on show to avoid a stack of papers.

The Hey Girl collection has a ton of cute chipboard elements. The speech bubbles and the dress are just a few of them. The speech bubble stamp is from BasicGrey’s Hello collection. I once again  couldn’t keep myself from using some masking tape. Did you notice I keep going back to that same one??

For the small butterflies I used a punch. I added a few of those yellow butterflies in different spots on my layout to lead your eye around the page. The masking tape in different areas serves the same cause.

I added some more stamping with Kelly Purkey, Ali Edwards, and Dear Lizzy stamps. All in  this awesome Wet Cement colored Mid-Tone ink by Hero Arts. I thinks this is my favorite ink in a long time. When first stamped, I always think ‘ugh! no, that was not the right choice’. And then the ink dries, and it all just falls to place – lol. It is awesome!

So, that’s about it for today. I have a sick little boy on my hands during this second week of spring break. Needless to say that crafting has not been part of my activities the last few days. Thankfully I still have quite some projects to share. I hope to be back later on this week. Thanks for stopping by!

Black & White | Stamping Mathilda’s 140th

Iedere zaterdag maakt Godelieve van het blog Stamping Mathilda een zwart-wit creatie. Deze week toont ze al haar 140ste zwart-wit project en voor die gelegenheid doen een aantal bloggers een keertje met haar mee. * Every saturday Godelieve makes a black and white creation for her blog Stamping Mathilda. This week she’s at her 140th project en for this happy occasion a bunch of us other bloggers are joining her.

Ik blijf meestal heel ver weg van zwart-wit. En ik heb mezelf heel erg moeten inhouden om niet een ander kleur nog toe te voegen, maar het is me gelukt. Vandaag was de perfecte gelegenheid om eens een keertje die ‘chalkboard’ techniek uit te proberen, die tegenwoordig heel erg in is. Ik wou dit al een tijd een keertje zelf doen. * I usually stay far away from black and white. And I really had to hold myself back from adding another color, but eventuallyI did it. Today was the perfect occasion to try out that ‘ halkboard’ technique that’s all it lately. I had been wanting to do try this for a while.

Ik maakte twee kleine kaartjes, maar dit eerste is mijn pronkstuk. De wens is van een Simon Says Stamp set, ontworpen door Kristina Werner, the Apothecary Labels set. Alle andere stempels zijn van een ouder Prima setje. * I made two smaller cards, but this first one is definitely my favorite. The sentiment is from the Apothecary Labels set  from Simon Says Stamp, designed by Kristina Werner. All other stamps are from an older Prima set.

Ik ging dus van start met een stukje zwart cardstock en bracht eerst wat witte distressing aan langs de randen. Ik stempelde de figuren en wens met White Frost Pigment inkt, en bracht tenslotte met wit potlood nog een aantal details aan. * So I started out with a piece of black cardstock and added a bit of white distressing along the edges. I then stamped the images and sentiment with Frost White Pigment ink. And then I added some details with white pencil.

Ik maakte ook een tweede kaartje, met een heel andere stijl. Voor dit kaartje gebruikte ik de Smitten set van Mama Elephant, en hield me aan dezelfde techniek. Voor de achtergrond van mijn wens maakte ik een gestreept patroon met wit potlood. * I also made a second card, with a completely different style. For this one I used the Smitten set by Mama Elephant, and stuck to the same technique. To the background behind the sentiment I added a striped pattern with my white pencil. 

Petje af voor Godelieve voor al die zwart-wit creaties. Dit is zeker en vast geen eenvoudige uitdaging. Gefeliciteerd, Godelieve, ik hoop dat er nog veel Black & White zaterdage mogen volgen! * I’m taking my hat off for Godelieve, for creating all those black and white projects. This is not an easy challenge at all. Congrats, Godelieve, I hope there may be many more Black & White saturdays!

Beautiful Life | Scrapperin Belle Pastel

To say I like working with Scrapperin’s Belle Pastel collection is an understatement. The colors and designs are just gorgeous, the stamp set very versatile. I have a new layout to share with you today, one that has turned out to be totally different than I had in mind. But I adore it nonetheless.

These pictures were taken on a picnic last summer. Makes me long for those sunny summer days again – lol. For the title I used one of the stamps of the Belle Pastel set. I stamped it onto an Ali Edwards journaling card. I chose not to use bigger, dimensional letter stickers for this layout. By stamping a smaller title, I believe I accentuated the calmth in this layout.

In the cluster on the left side of the pictures, I used some masking tape and fabric tape. The blue arrows are trimmed out from one of the manufacturers strips from the Belle Pastel papers. I just love little features like this to save and add to a page of project.

On the top left corner, I adhered some of the BasicGrey fabric tape, this one is from the Mint Julep collection. I just love that stuff. The stamp is from the Belle Pastel set, the stitched brad is from BasicGrey Paper Cottage collection. I thought it just fitted the yellows on my page.

We are Moving! | myStamp BOX

It’s my posting day over on the myStamp BOX blog today and I had some fun with the Neighborhoods set this time. I really enjoy this set because of the endless possibilities with these rows of houses. I made this super easy but fun card by layering the houses. * Vandaag is het mijn dag om op het blog van myStamp BOX te posten en ik speelde wat met de Neighborhoods set deze keer. Ik vind dit een zeer leuke set omdat de rijtjes huizen eindeloze mogelijkheden bieden. Ik maakte deze zeer eenvoudige en leuke kaart door verschillende lagen huisjes boven elkaar te gebruiken.

I stamped both the rows onto patterned paper from Studio Calico’s Darling Dear 6×6 paper pad, and trimmed them out. I then adhered some dimensional adhesive to both of the images and layered them on top of each other. The top layer is positioned a bit lower then the first one, so that the back row still stays visible enough. * Ik stempelde beide rijtjes op dessinpapier van Studio Calico’s Darling Dear 6×6 paper pad, en knipte ze uit. Ik kleefde op beide 3D tape op de achterzijde en kleefde ze dan boven elkaar. Het bovenste rijtje huisjes is een klein beetje lager geplaatst dan het eerste, zodat het achterste rijtje ook nog goed zichtbaar blijft.

I believe you can add as many layers of houses as you want. This would look awesome as a single layered card with masking as well, I think. Just have fun with it! * Ik geloof dat je op die manier zoveel rijtjes kan creëren als je zelf wil. Het zou er, denk ik, ook heel leuk uitzien om zo een éénlagige kaart te maken aan de hand van masking. Geniet er gewoon van!

Follow the White Rabbit Easter Blog Hop

A few weeks back I treated myself to a bouquet of these lovely tulips. Instant spring in our home, so it felt. And instant spring in my scrapbookalbum. I started out with a sheet of white cardstock and applied a good layer of gesso, adding some texture to the page. After drying, I sprayed Glimmer Mists onto the gesso, added some water and let the colors bleed. I followed the color scheme of the tulips for my page.

Next to the greens and pinks, I also brought in some gold (in small amounts) with glitter tape by American Crafts, and with some golden Smooch sparkle accent ink onto the chipboard feathers by Jenni Bowlin. In the cluster of embellishments at the right bottom corner of the picture you can find a pocket watch, die-cut from a Teresa Collins paper.

This turned out to be a layout with almost all of my favorite products, techniques, and brands at the moment. I was a bit sceptic at first, but I’m so addicted to this fabric tape. This one is from Maya Road.
