myStamp BOX Showcase | Home

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
The myStamp BOX design team chose to work around the theme of Home and Family for this month’s showcase. I decided to work on a layout featuring this older picture of my husband with Nora. This is not the best picture ever to get scrapped, but the most meaningful pictures aren’t always your best ones. And so I thought it deserved a nice layout.

I used quite a lot of paper of the Portfolio collection by Pink Paislee. And of course a lot of myStamp BOX stamps. First of all I used the Timelines set to add interest to my background. I stamped the timelines randomly across my background paper in a way that they would show up from behind the picture and other layers. And I then added a layer of gesso on top to soften the harshness and contrast.

Onto the little speech bubble with the green heart I stamped the ‘my heart beeps for you’ stamp from the Programmed Robots set. I also used the polaroid frame from the Pixel Perfect set again. I stamped it onto white cardstock here. To get this weathered effect, I just smeared some ink along the edges and lightly overtop with a damp cloth.

The sentiment on the polaroid frame is from the Whatever set. Everything was stamped with Wet Cement Shadow ink from Hero Arts.

Beautiful Fall

Today’s my day again over on the myStamp BOX blog. And what better thing to capture during this time of year than all the fabulous natural decor fall is giving us. I shot this picture on one of our Sunday walks through the forest. * Vandaag is het alweer mijn dag op het blog van myStamp BOX. En wat kun je op dit moment beter vastleggen dan die mooie natuurlijke decoraties, die de herfst voor ons in petto heeft. Ik maakte deze foto op één van onze zondagse wandelingen in het bos.

I used a paper from Pink Paislee’s Portfolio collection as the basis of my layout. I loved the colors and subtle background print of text and flowers. So I decided to add some more stamping in that same grey color to the background. The small leaves are from the Abundant Blossoms set and fitted this theme very well. The dotted trails were added afterwards with a stamp from the Funky Flowers set.* Ik gebruikte papier van Pink Paislee’s Portfolio collectie als basis voor mijn layout. Ik vond de kleur en die subtiele print van bloemen en tekst op de achtergrond heel mooi. Dus besloot ik om nog wat bij te stempelen in diezelfde grijze kleur. De kleine blaadjes zijn van de Abundant Blossoms set en pasten heel goed bij het thema. De gestreepte sporen voegde ik achteraf toe met een stempel van de Funky Flowers set.

My picture is stacked onto a couple of layers of paper, patterned paper and tissue paper. In the bottom right corner I stamped the ‘handle with care’ stamp from the Road Trip set. The stamp is mostly covered by the paper, but the small sentence is readible. * Mijn foto ligt bovenop een aantal lagen papier, dessinpapier en vloeipapier. In de beneden rechterhoek stempelde ik de ‘handle with care’ stempel van de Road Trip set. De stempel zit grotendeels verborgen, maar de tekst is nog net leesbaar. 

I also chose to stamp part of my title with the Royal Flush alphabet set. * Ik koos ervoor om ook een deel van mijn titel te stempelen met de  Royal Flush alfabet set.

Sketchbook365 September Sketch

Last week the new sketch challenge for the month of september went live on Sketchbook365, the challenge blog of Scrap365 magazine. Well, I have to admit that it was quite the struggle. Here’s my layout: * Wel, ik moet toegeven dat het nogal een strijd was. Dit is mijn layout:

There are quite a lot of masking tape accents and some strips of patterned paper, really just a mix and match of different items. The viewmaster slides are trimmed out from an Echo Park paper from the Note to Self collection. * Er zijn heel wat masking tape accenten op deze layout en stroken dessinpapier, eigenlijk een mix van verschillende items. De viewmaster schijfjes zijn uitgeknipt uit een Echo Park papier van de Note to Self collectie.

I love to use these flairs. * Ik gebruik deze flairs heel erg graag.

myStamp BOX March showcase

Today a new showcase went up on the myStamp BOX blog. And what better theme than St.-Patricks’ Day inspired projects. We don’t celebrate the day around here, and green isn’t really my go-to color, but I had fun making this card for the occasion. You should definitely go check out what the other DT member made this month. There are some great projects there. * Vandaag ging er een nieuwe showcase van myStamp BOX live op het blog. En wat zou nu een beter thema kunnen geweest zijn dan projecten geïnspireerd op St.-Patricks’ Day. Wij vieren de dag hier zelf niet, en groen is niet echt mijn favoriete kleur, maar ik vond het toch leuk om deze kaart voor deze gelegenheid te maken. jullie moeten zeker eens een kijkje gaan nemen naar wat de andere DT leden deze maand hebben gemaakt. Er zijn een aantal prachtige projecten bij.

I used two myStamp BOX stamp sets. The Friday Night Stencil Alpha set, and the heart stamp from the Holiday Monkey set (to build the four leave clover). * Ik gebruikte twee stempelsets van myStamp BOX. De Friday Night Stencil alfabet set, en het hartje van de Holiday Monkey set (om het klavertje vier te maken).

Today was a national mourning day here in Belgium for the victims of the horrible bus accident in Switzerland earlier this week. On days like this I realise how lucky we are and have to be with all the little things in life. Good luck to all of you my friends!! * Vandaag was  een dag van nationale rouw hier in België voor de slachtoffers van het tragische busongeval in Zwitserland eerder deze week. Op dagen als vandaag realiseer ik me hoe goed we het hebben en hoe gelukkig we moeten zijn met alle kleine dingen in het leven. Geluk voor ieder van jullie!!

Happy August!!

July has been no good, when it comes to weather conditions in Belgium! Chilly and wet, followed by even more chilly and wet weather. Hope August will bring some relieve. The weather forecasts make beautiful promises for the next few days, crossing our fingers August has more of that for us! – Juli heeft ons in de steek gelaten met het slechte weer hier in België! Koud en nat, gevolgd door meer koud en nat weer. Hopelijk brengt augustus een beetje verandering. De weersvoorspellingen zien er voor de komende dagen in ieder geval veelbelovend uit. Duimen dat augustus nog meer van dat brengt!

This months calendar page was so last minute. I just couldn’t make up my mind on what papers to use, about the design, the words, … Eventually I broke out my Queen Bee papers, it’s been awhile. – Deze kalenderpagina werd helemaal op het laatste moment gemaakt. Ik kon maar niet beslissen welke papieren ik wilde gebruiken, over de layout, de tekst, … Uiteindelijk haalde ik mijn Queen Bee papieren nog eens boven, het was al een tijd geleden.

Since both my sister and I are celebrating our birthdays this month, the sentiment had to say something with ‘celebrate’. I love how Ali Edwards’ stamp sets coordinate so well together. Mixing and matching the words to your own content, that’s what I like. The butterfly is a Jenni Bowlin stamp. Gorgeous, isn’t it. – Aangezien zowel mijn zus als ikzelf deze maand jarig zijn, moest er iets in de zin van ‘celebrate’ komen. Fantastisch hoe goed Ali Edwards’ stempelsets met elkaar coördineren.  Mixing en matching naar eigen believen, ik hou ervan. De vlinder is een stempel van Jenni Bowlin. Mooi, hé.

I registered for the Big Idea Festival, one of the Big Pictures Classes, starting August 15th. Is anyone going to be there with me? – Ik registreerde me voor het Big Idea Festival, één van de Big Pictures Classes, dat van start gaat op 15 augustus. Neemt er iemand van jullie ook deel?

Season’s Greetings

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas this morning!!! - Ik wil jullie deze ochtend graag allemaal een Prettig Kerstfeest toewensen!!!

So I suppose we have our very last holiday card today. I absolutely adore the colors and patterns on this Pink Paisley papers. I thought it would work perfect for Christmas themed cards too. This must be one of my favorite cards for this season. I made a set of these cards for my mother to send out to friends and family.

We zijn vandaag dus aan onze laatste kerstkaart toe. Ik hou enorm van de kleuren en patronen van dit Pink Paisley papier. Ik dacht dat het ook wel goed zou passen voor kaarten met een kerstthema. Dit moet één van mijn favoriete kaarten van dit seizoen zijn. Ik maakte een set van deze kaarten voor mijn moeder om ze naar familie en vrienden te versturen.

The small swirly stamp is a tiny part of a big Fancy Pants stamp. I stamped the sentiment on this card, but then it felt like it needed something more. This elegant swirl seemed the perfect finishing touch.

De kleine krullerige stempel is een klein deeltje van een grotere Fancy Pants stempel. Ik had eerst de wens op de kaart gezet, maar vond toen dat ze toch nog iets meer nodig had. Dit elegante krulletje leek de perfecte laatste toets.

The snowflake was punched from some white cardstock and lightly colored with Old Paper distress inks. I added some Perfect Pearls for a fabulous shine. Unfortunately this is (as usual with Perfect Pearls) not visible in this picture.

De sneeuwvlok ponste ik uit een blad wit papier en kleurde ze lichtjes met Old Paper distress inkt. Ik voegde wat Perfect Pearls toe voor een mooie glans. Jammer genoeg is dit (zoals altijd met Perfect Pearls) niet te zien op de foto.

The only supplies I bought for this holiday season are five sheets of Basic Grey’s Jovial patterned paper. And boy, do I love them. I could not restrain myself when I walked through the store. The collection is fabulous, it was quite an effort to buy only those few sheets.

Voor deze kerstperiode kocht ik enkel een vijftal bladen van Basic Grey’s Jovial scrappapier. Ik kon mezelf niet helpen toen ik door de winkel liep. De collectie is gewoon prachtig, het kostte wel wat moeite om maar die paar bladen mee te brengen.

On days like these I wish I had a die-cutting machine. This card could have looked a lot better with a beautiful die-cut sentiment label. But I think the fabulous seam-binding and the vintage bead make up for that.

Op dagen als vandaag betreur ik het dat ik geen die-cutting machine heb. Deze kaart kon er veel beter uit gezien hebben met een mooi label , waarop de wens werd gestempeld. Maar ik denk dat het lint en de vintage kraal dit wel goedmaken.

I made some super easy vintage looking tags the other day. I stamped one of the Holiday Sayings by Hero Arts in a frame. I actually had to cut the sentiment up, but by doing so the sentiment fitted the Pink Paisley frame perfectly. I’ve put these tags on some glassine gift bags. The bags hold some wooden snowflake ornaments, which I’ll probably be giving to some crafty friends.

Ik maakte een aantal super gemakkelijke vintage labels onlangs. Ik stempelde één van de Holiday Sayings van Hero Arts in een frame. Ik moest wel de wens doorknippen, maar zo paste hij wel perfect in het Pink Paisley frame. Ik gebruikte de labels op kleine geschenkzakjes, die een aantal houten sneeuwvlokjes bevatten.

Ticket to Celebrate

A holiday card which can easily be used for other occasions too. Or maybe an other occasions card which can be used for the holidays too. Either way.

Een kerstkaart die ook gemakkelijk voor andere gelegenheden kan worden gebruikt. Of misschien een andere gelegenheidskaart die ook voor de feestdagen kan worden gebruikt. Om het even.

The frame first got a coat of acrylic paint and I finished it up with smearing some Liquid Pearls over the surface for some shimmer. Have you noticed that these ticket stamps from Papertrey Ink are getting inked up quite a lot lately? They’re out on my work surface all the time these days. Love them!

Het frame kreeg eerst een laagje acrylverf en werkte ik dan af door er nog een laagje Liquid Pearls overheen te smeren voor de glans. Valt het jullie op dat deze ticketstempeltjes van Papertrey Ink nogal veel gebruikt worden de laatste tijd? Ze liggen bijna constant op mijn werktafel tegenwoordig. Ik vind ze fantastisch!

Day 5. I used some Artisan tape from Pink Paisley. I thought the color matched the green of the cardstock and the patterned papers perfectly.

Dag 5. Ik gebruikte een stukje Artisan tape van Pink Paisley. Ik vond de kleur perfect passen bij het groen van het cardstock en van het scrappapier.
