She Did It | myStamp BOX April Showcase

There is a new showcase up on the myStamp BOX blog today. All ladies of the design team made a project based on the colors of this picture. I played with my color mists again and made a layout.

Nora was never interested in a pacifier. From the moment she was able to bring her little hands to her mouth, she found all comfort in her thumb. Around this time last year, we thought she was getting too old for it, and encouraged her to do without. In the daytime I used to wrap bandaids around her thumbs, she stayed off. But at night she just went on sucking her thumb. And then, first day of summer break, I painted her nails. She instantly stopped.

She Did It

I really had to capture this in my scrapbooks. It was a big struggle and I was so proud of my girl for finally overcoming this habit. Since I’m not really a big fan of purple and so the purple supplies in my stash are really limited, I chose to use spray inks on my background.

She Did It detail 1

I first applied a good layer of gesso, allowed to dry, and then added misting and water. Adding water allows you to move the colors around on your page. The colors get slightly lighter, and can be spread over a larger part of the paper. I dried everything with my heat gun. Then I added stamping with the Timelines set behind my picture.

She Did It detail 3

The title is build with the small wood veneer alphas by Studio Calico. The hearts and seals on this layout are stamped with myStamp BOX’ Seal It! set. The arrow is from the Road Trip set, the sentiment from the Small Greetings set.

We are Moving! | myStamp BOX

It’s my posting day over on the myStamp BOX blog today and I had some fun with the Neighborhoods set this time. I really enjoy this set because of the endless possibilities with these rows of houses. I made this super easy but fun card by layering the houses.

We are Moving!I stamped both the rows onto patterned paper from Studio Calico’s Darling Dear 6×6 paper pad, and trimmed them out. I then adhered some dimensional adhesive to both of the images and layered them on top of each other. The top layer is positioned a bit lower then the first one, so that the back row still stays visible enough.

We are Moving! detailI believe you can add as many layers of houses as you want. This would look awesome as a single layered card with masking as well, I think. Just have fun with it!

Let’s Celebrate | myStamp BOX Card

The first thursday of the month is usually my day to post on the blog of myStamp BOX. This time, I have this card to show. It’s one of those cards that can be adjusted to almost any occasion, birthdays, get well soons, hello’s, etc.

Let's Celebrate

The focal point of the card is definitely this flower that I build with stamps from the Funky Flowers set. The outer layers of this flower were stamped with the larger solid leaf stamp, the inner layer with both of the smaller leaf stamp. Five layers in total. The sentiment is from the Small Greetings set. Vijf lagen in totaal.

Hope you’re having a lovely day.

Miracle | myStamp BOX February Showcase

The February showcase will be up on the myStamp BOX blog today. All designers agreed to make a project inspired on the Creative Jumpstart series Nathalie Kalbach set up earlier this year. In case you’re not familiar with the concept: Nathalie asked a bunch of amazing designer from around the world to help her make a series to jumpstart our creativity. One of the designers was Heidi Swapp, who certainly sparked something for me with her video. I made this layout inspired by her work.

MiracleHeidi Swapp talked in her video about using spray inks along with masks. I immediately fell in love with the stunning effect she created on her page. Since I don’t have an awful lot of masks on hand, I chose to work with a heart as well and placed a chevron mask overtop. The result is stunning, if I may say so myself. The little feet on the layout are Nora’s. She was just a few weeks old back then.

Miracle detail 1I worked with my beloved IceBox Sprinkler by October Afternoon and with the Water Cooler Mr. Huey from Studio Calico. I first put down both masks and used the Water Cooler color, then removed the chevrons but kept the heart and added the IceBox spray overtop. I finished this up with a layer of hair spray to prevent that the Sprinkler ink would come off.

Miracle detail 2

For the title and a few of the embellishments, I used WOW glitter embossing powder. The title is stamped with the Friday Night Stencil alphabet set by myStamp BOX. It’s a fun set for building titles. The heart stamp is from the Seal it! set, which I also used for the seal next to the resin flower on the left side of the layout.

Miracle detail 3Don’t forget to stop by the myStamp BOX blog to find out what designers and techniques the rest of the team got inspired by.

Gossamer Blue & My Mind’s Eye Guest Designer Contest

A few weeks back I saw this. And I thought: ‘well yes, of course I want to be a guest designer for these two amazing companies’. Who wouldn’t want to be.

6a01053647c676970c017ee7eb2094970d-800wi

So here’s my layout to enter the contest. Obviously I had summer on my mind. This picture of Nora was taken last summer when playing outside. There wasn’t really a special occasion or story to tell about that day, but look how she shines. I really wanted to capture that happiness in my layout.

You ShineI turned to the My Mind’s Eye ‘Honey’ papers (from the Sweetest Thing collections) to bring color to my layout. The warm pinks and yellows scream summer and they made my picture stand out very well.

You Shine detail 1 First of all I altered some chipboard Thickers to match the colors of my layout. I covered them with some tacky glue, added pink glitter, and finished them off with a thin layer of Glossy Accents to prevent that the glitter would rub off. The rest of my title is die-cutted with letter dies from Papertrey Ink.

You Shine detail 2

Underneath my picture I adhered some strings of the Color Magic Banners by Heidi Swapp. They’re part of a beautiful collection of mistable papers and embellishments, so awesome to play with. Unfortunatly I was only able to get my hands on some of these banners. I colored these with different colors of spray mists and even added some distress inks on top.

You Shine detail 3This ‘contagious laugh’ sticker is from Dear Lizzy’s Neapolitan collection. The small puffy hearts have been in my stash since forever. I bought them when I first started scrapbooking in a local discount store, and they still last. The polaroids are trimmed out from a Follow Your Heart ‘Be Happy’ paper, also by My Mind’s Eye.

You Shine detail 4Thank you very much, Gossamer Bleu and My Mind’s Eye for this opportunity!! And now to keep my fingers crossed – lol. Have a great day!!

myStamp BOX Single Layer Valentine’s Card

Valentine Inspiration

Today’s my day over on the myStamp BOX blog and I challenged myself to make a single layer card this time. I tend to add a lot more layers to my projects lately, and thought it was good to simplify for a change. I first sketched out a heart with pencil onto my cardfront and then started filling in the heart with several small stamps.

Single Layer Valentine's Card

Since I was feeling the card was still too white and needed a little something extra, I colored in the heart with distress inks. The sentiment is from the Whatever! set.
