Wintertime

Hi,

I have been working on a few layouts the last few days inspired by Shimelle’s Online Scrapbooking Weekend. One of the challenge was a colorcombo, being red, white and aqua. A challenge which I really wanted to give a try, since it’s not a color combo that I’d usually go for. Searching through my stash I came to realise that I don’t use this colorcombo often, because red and aqua are almost completely absent. This is the result. - Ik was de laatste dagen aan een aantal layouts aan het werken geïnspireerd door Shimelle’s Online Scrapbooking Weekend. Eén van de challenges was een kleurencombinatie, namelijk rood, wit en aqua. Een challenge die ik echt wel graag een keertje wou uitproberen, aangezien het er één is die ik zelf bijna nooit kies. Terwijl ik in mijn voorraad aan het zoeken was, werd al snel duidelijk waarom ik deze kleurencombinatie niet veel gebruik. Rood en aqua zijn bijna volledig afwezig. Dit is het resultaat.

I used a lot of oldies. I love it when I get to use some of my older stuff. Makes room for new, right. These were really leftovers and scraps. The tags and stickers hide some holes in the paper from punching. I struggled with this challenge quite a bit because of my lack of products. – Ik gebruikte veel oudere producten. Ik vind het wel leuk om wat van mijn voorraad op te gebruiken, zo komt er plaats voor nieuwe spullen, nietwaar. Dit waren echt wel resten. De tags en stickers verbergen gaten in het papier, waar ik voordien al iets had uitgeponst. Het werd uiteindelijk geen eenvoudige challenge omwille van het gebrek aan materiaal.

On the pictures you see Nora, little over 1.5 yrs old, snuggling up under a blanket, rosy cheeks after a walk in the cold. – Op de foto’s zie je Nora, iets ouder dan 1.5 jaar, gezellig onder een dekentje, roze wangetjes na een wandeling in de koude.

I saw this inspiring Tuesday Trigger over on the Moxie Fab blog just a few days ago. I felt like it was time to experiment a bit with color again. – Ik zag deze inspirerende Tuesday Trigger onlangs op het Moxie Fab blog. Het voelde alsof het tijd was om nog eens een keertje met kleur te gaan experimenteren.

Here’s what I came up with: – Dit is het resultaat:

I tried a few different settings/layouts, but can’t really decide which one I like most. I think I’ll try some more possibilities. – Ik probeerde een aantal verschillende layouts, maar kan nog niet beslissen welke ik de leukste vind. Ik denk dat ik nog wat meer mogelijkheden zal uitproberen.

The background was made with a lot of masking and the use of a journaling stamp. Quite a time consuming job, but very much fun. – De achtergrond werd gemaakt met veel afplakken en een journaling stempel. Het neemt nogal wat tijd in beslag, maar is wel heel erg leuk.

I chose to use the lines stamp from the Today You set by Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday, because it stamps very fine lines. I wanted them to be as detailed as possible. I love the effect! – Ik koos ervoor om de lijntjes stempel van de Today You set van Ali Edwards te gebruiken omdat die heel erg fijne lijntjes stempelt. Ik wou zoveel mogelijk detail. Fantastisch effect, vind ik zelf!

Calendar 2011

Hi,

With Christmas just a few days behind us, I start to think about the new coming year already. As I’m expecting to have little time for crafting and blogging about it the next few months, I wanted to set myself a challenge to keep this blog thing going. Not a difficult one though. I’m planning on doing a monthly calendar in 2011. So for the next 12 months, I will try to post a new calendar page on the first of the month.

Kerstmis is nog maar een paar dagen voorbij, maar ondertussen beginnen we al aan het nieuwe jaar te denken. Aangezien ik verwacht dat er de komende maanden niet zoveel tijd zal zijn om kaarten te maken en erover te bloggen, wilde ik met mezelf toch een uitdaging aangaan om deze blog in die tijd ook gaande te houden. een vrij gemakkelijke uitdaging, hoor. Ik wil graag een maandelijkse kalender doen in 2011. Dus de komende 12 maanden zal ik proberen om iedere eerste van de maand een nieuw kalenderblad te maken.

I used a free downloadable photocalendar from Shutter Sisters, for which I found a link on Godelieve’s Stamping Mathilda blog some time ago, as a base. I removed the photo layer and enlarged the text. The pages of the calendar are now half of a standard sized page.

Ik gebruikte een gratis te downloaden fotokalender van  Shutter Sisters, waarnaar ik een tijdje geleden een link vond op Godelieve’s Stamping Mathilda blog , als basis voor mij kalender. Ik verwijderde de fotolaag en maakte de text wat groter. De pagina’s van de kalender zijn nu A5 formaat.

Here’s the front page of the calendar. I punched out 12 circles from different pages of patterned paper. They symbolise the 12 months of a year.

For my very first time ever, I used a die-cutting machine for this design!!! No, I still don’t own one of those babies. Santa didn’t bring one. I had the chance to loan a Cuttlebug for a while from a friend.  Fabulous thing. Addiction is right around the corner – hee! I used the biggest frame for the white shape, the striped one is hand-cut .

Voor de allereerste keer gebruikte ik een Cuttlebug voor dit ontwerp!!! Nee, ik heb er zelf nog steeds geen. De Kerstman heeft er geentje gebracht. Ik had het geluk er eens één voor een tijdje te kunnen lenen van een vriendin – Bedankt, Anne!!!! Fantastisch ding. De verslaving loert om de hoek – hee!! Ik gebruikte het grootste frame voor de witte laag, de streepjeslaag is met de hand uitgeknipt.

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas this morning!!! - Ik wil jullie deze ochtend graag allemaal een Prettig Kerstfeest toewensen!!!

So I suppose we have our very last holiday card today. I absolutely adore the colors and patterns on this Pink Paisley papers. I thought it would work perfect for Christmas themed cards too. This must be one of my favorite cards for this season. I made a set of these cards for my mother to send out to friends and family.

We zijn vandaag dus aan onze laatste kerstkaart toe. Ik hou enorm van de kleuren en patronen van dit Pink Paisley papier. Ik dacht dat het ook wel goed zou passen voor kaarten met een kerstthema. Dit moet één van mijn favoriete kaarten van dit seizoen zijn. Ik maakte een set van deze kaarten voor mijn moeder om ze naar familie en vrienden te versturen.

The small swirly stamp is a tiny part of a big Fancy Pants stamp. I stamped the sentiment on this card, but then it felt like it needed something more. This elegant swirl seemed the perfect finishing touch.

De kleine krullerige stempel is een klein deeltje van een grotere Fancy Pants stempel. Ik had eerst de wens op de kaart gezet, maar vond toen dat ze toch nog iets meer nodig had. Dit elegante krulletje leek de perfecte laatste toets.

The snowflake was punched from some white cardstock and lightly colored with Old Paper distress inks. I added some Perfect Pearls for a fabulous shine. Unfortunately this is (as usual with Perfect Pearls) not visible in this picture.

De sneeuwvlok ponste ik uit een blad wit papier en kleurde ze lichtjes met Old Paper distress inkt. Ik voegde wat Perfect Pearls toe voor een mooie glans. Jammer genoeg is dit (zoals altijd met Perfect Pearls) niet te zien op de foto.

I struggled quite some time with the design of this card. I actually set this card aside for a week or two, because I just didn’t seem to get it right. A few days ago, I sat down in front of it again and tried to finish it. 

Ik worstelde een tijdje met deze kaart. Ik heb ze zelfs een tweetal weken opzij laten liggen omdat ik ze maar niet gemaakt kreeg. Een paar dagen geleden nam ik mij voor om ze te proberen af te werken.

A quick one today. I used some strips of older patterned papers. And an old stamp by Inkadinkado.

Een vlugge post vandaag. Ik gebruikte een aantal stroken ouder scrappapier en een oude Inkadinkado-stempel.

I tried to mix and match the patterned papers of different collections and brands until I had a satisfying combination.

Ik probeerde dessinpapier van verschillende collecties en merken met elkaar samen te leggen totdat ik een goede combinatie vond.

It’ s been ages since I’ve played in a challenge here or there. I’m so happy I could finally find some time and energy to participate one. Earlier this week a new EBKS challenge was revealed, to make a card with special attention to textures. Unfortunately it is the very last EBKS challenge! I wanted to do a card or project with corrugated cardboard again for some time now. This was the perfect opportunity. This card turned out to be so different from what I first intended.

Het is zo lang geleden dat ik nog een keertje met een challenge meespeelde. Ik ben blij dat ik eindelijk nog eens wat tijd en energie kon vinden om aan eentje deel te nemen. Eerder deze week werd een nieuwe EBKS challenge, namelijk om een kaart te maken met aandacht voor textuur. Jammer genoeg is dit de allerlaatste EBKS challenge! Ik wilde al een tijdje nog eens een kaart op project doen met karton, dit was dus de perfecte gelegenheid. Mijn kaart ziet er uiteindelijk wel helemaal anders uit dan ik oorspronkelijk in gedachten had.

A wooden snowflake ads even more texture to this card.

Een houten sneeuwvlokje brengt nog meer textuur in deze kaart.

I want to thank the EBKS team for the many fun challenges they hosted!! I certainly will miss them.

Gothic Arch #10 – Steampunk

You all guessed it right the other day. I’m working on an Advent calendar. You might have noticed that the Christmas spirit is still rather absent on my blog. I’m kind of saving up for the month of Decembre and planning on doing some sort of Christmas marathon with an Advent calendar and lots of holiday related cards and projects. We’re kicking off at Decembre 1st.

De meesten van jullie hadden het goed geraden, ik werk aan een adventskalender (Sorry, Lies!!! – lol!). Jullie hebben misschien al gemerkt dat de kerstsfeer nog afwezig is op mijn blog. Ik probeer alles wat op te sparen voor de maand december en plan een soort van kerstmarathon met de adventskalender en veel kaarten en projecten. We gaan van start op 1 december.

Today I have another Gothic Arch to show, number 10 that is. The theme was Steampunk, which I found really difficult. Thankfully I was able to discover some fabulous images on the internet, and could eventually get down to business.

Vandaag heb ik een nieuwe gothic arch te tonen, nummer 10. Het thema was Steampunk, niet zo gemakkelijk. Gelukkig kon ik enkele mooie afbeelding vinden op het internet.

Gothic Arch #9 – Asia

Hi all,

One of the themes for the Gothic Arches was Asia. I struggled a bit with it, because I didn’t have much matching supplies, but ended up with this. I immediatley knew what the background would be like. I inked up some white cardstock with Fired Brick distress ink and touched up the edges with Aged Mahogany. The flowers are colored with a white pastel and have a champagne colored jewel. The bottom of the arch has a piece of an older Asian daily paper. I finished up with some postage stamps. It was quite an effort to finally complete this one, but I love the end result. Hope you guys do so too.

Eén van de thema’s van de Gothic Arches was Azië. Ik heb er een tijdje mee geworsteld omdat ik niet zoveel passend materiaal had, maar dit is wat ik voor dit thema kon bedenken. Ik wist meteen hoe de achtergrond er zou gaan uitzien. Ik sponsde Fired Brick distress inkt op wit papier en werkte de randen bij met Aged Magohany. De bloemetjes zijn ingekleurd met een wit pastelpotlood en hebben een champagne strass. De onderkant van de boog kreeg een stuk van een oudere Aziatische krant. Ik werkte af met een paar postzegels. Ik heb nogal moeite moeten doen om deze uiteindelijk tot een goed einde te brengen, maar ik ben zeer tevreden met het eindresultaat. Hopelijk vinden jullie het ook wel wat.

100th Blog Post

Hi,

It’s been a few days, but here I am again. With my 100th blog post already, AND with some super exciting news. I’m proud to announce that one of my creations is going to be published in a magazine within a matter of time!!!! I practically fell off my chair when reading the acceptancy e-mail. There isn’t much I can tell you about that right now, but I’ll keep you all updated (of course) when the issue is coming out.

Het is een paar dagen geleden, maar hier ben ik terug. Met mijn 100ste blog post, EN met heel spannend nieuws. Ik ben trots jullie te kunnen vertellen dat één van mijn creaties binnen afzienbare tijd zal gepubliceerd worden in een tijdschrift!!!!! Ik viel bijna van mijn stoel toen ik mijn e-mail las. Ik kan er nu niet zo veel over vertellen, maar ik houd jullie (natuurlijk) op de hoogte wanneer het nummer uit komt.

We had the most amazing weather here this weekend, so we’ve been spending almost all of my precious stamping time in our backyard enjoying the sun. And today’s project is worth about two and a half cards too. So I took my time. I have a card, inside and out, and a matching envelope for you.

Dit weekend was het weer echt fantastisch, dus hebben we mijn waardevolle stempeltijd in de tuin doorgebracht, genietend van de zon. En het project van vandaag is ook wel ruim twee kaarten waard. Dus nam ik mijn tijd. Ik heb een kaart, binnen en buiten afgewerkt, en een bijpassende envelop voor jullie.

I made this one with the current Embellish Magazine challenge in mind and used a sketch of this months’ Caardvarks challenge. That makes two in one.

Ik maakte deze met de huidige Embellish Magazine challenge in gedachten en gebruikte een schets  van de Caardvarks challenge van deze maand. Twee in één dus.

The May challenge over at Inkurable Stampers is mail art. I was struggling quite a lot to just dress up an envelope. So I decided to make a card, and then create a matching envelope. No trouble at all!! Three in one.

De mei challenge van Inkurable Stampers is mail art. Ik had nogal problemen om een envelop op te tuigen zonder meer. Dus besliste ik een kaart te maken en een bijpassende envelop te creëren. Geen enkel probleem!! Drie in één.
