Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

Merry Christmas to all of you!

My husband is still not really on the mend, so we’re taking things very easy today. We took a late start this morning, with a nice breakfast with the kids. And this evening we’ll have a small dinner just the 4 of us. We don’t do presents on Christmas. Since Sinterklaas stops by for our kids on December 6th, Santa doesn’t make it’s appearance in our house. But we do have presents on New Year’s.

I have something special for you today. I made this canvas the other day. And also taped my process while doing so. Now I have to say, this was my first time I made a mixed media canvas. So please don’t see this as a tutorial kind of video. Most of the time I had no clue what I was doing. I made a couple of obvious mistakes as well, things I would do different if I did it again. But I had a lot of fun with it, and that’s what it’s all about eventually, right?!

myStamp BOX Treat Box

Today is group post day over on the myStamp BOX blog and for this month’s theme we chose to go for some holiday related food projects. A very broad theme, this is what I made. I was planning on making some of these treat boxes to take them with us as hostess gifts. * Vandaag is er een groepspost op het blog van myStamp BOX. En voor het thema voor deze maand kozen we iets te gaan doen met eten. Ruime keuze dus, dit is wat ik maakte. Ik was van plan een aantal van deze te gaan maken om mee te nemen voor mijn gastheer en gastvrouw.

I started out with a chipboard box, that you usually can find in craft stores. I painted it a couple of layers with regular white acrylic paint. And let it dry. I made a video for you of my treat box. Enjoy!! * Ik begon met een kartonnen doosje, dat je doorgaans wel in hobbywinkels vindt. Ik schilderde het een paar laagjes met gewone witte acrylverf en liet het drogen. Hier is een video van het doosje. Geniet ervan!!

Wonderland

A few weeks back I took the kids to a local garden center, which happens to have a whole village of these holiday houses on display. The kids just loved looking at everything going on in that fantasy world. We’ve been back numerous times to  just gaze and enjoy. * Enkele weken geleden nam ik de kinderen mee naar een plaatselijk tuincentrum, waar er toevallig een heel dorp van deze kersthuisjes uitgestald stond. Nora en Tuur genoten heel erg om naar deze fantasiewereld te kunnen kijken. We zijn sindsdien al verschillende keren terug geweest, gewoon om te staren en te genieten.

I thought the warm colors of the pictures would look good on some paler, ‘colder’ wintercolors. It makes them stand out. Here’s a video for you, if you care to see my process on this layout. Enjoy!! * Ik dacht dat de warme kleuren van de foto’s goed zouden uitkomen op blekere, ‘koudere’, winterse kleuren. Ze komen goed naar voren. myStamp BOX Back to School

Today is my blog day on the myStamp BOX blog again. I thought I’d make a few back to school cards, a small sign of encouragement for kicking of the new year. Around this time of year school starts again after a long summer break for many of our kids. And really a lot of myStamp BOX stamp sets, with different themes, can be of good use for this occasion. * Vandaag is het opnieuw mijn beurt om op het blog van myStamp BOX te posten. Ik dacht enkele terug-naar-school kaarten te maken, een klein aanmoedigend gebaar om het nieuwe schooljaar in te zetten. Rond deze tijd start immers het schooljaar opnieuw na een lange zomervakantie voor heel veel van onze kinderen. En eigenlijk zijn heel wat myStamp BOX stempelsets, met verschillende thema’s, goed bruikbaar voor deze gelegenheid.

Here’s my first card. I stamped the polaroid frame from the Pixel Perfect set onto some white cardstock and trimmed it out. I adhered it down to my card front with a strip of masking tape. * Hier is mijn eerste kaart. Ik stempelde het polaroid frame van de Pixel Perfect set op wit papier en knipte het uit. Ik kleefde het vast op mijn kaart met een stukje masking tape.

I added a heart made out of paperclips with that same set. The sentiment is from the Whatever set and matches the cool teenager feel to the card. * Ik maakte een hart op de kaart met de paperclips van diezelfde set. De wens is er één van de Whatever set en pastte goed bij de coole teenager look van deze kaart.

That same sentiment was also used for the second card. For the background of this card, I used the tag stamp from the Road Trip set and repeated it to create a pattern. * Diezelfde wens gebruikte ik ook op mijn tweede kaart. Voor de achtergrond van deze kaart, gebruikte ik het labelstempeltje van de Road Trip set en herhaalde ik hem om een patroon te creëren.

Furthermore I used the paperclip stamp again to create a border with the red paper, as well as one of the Timelines stamps, both white embossed. * Verder gebruikte ik opnieuw de paperclip stempel en één van de Timelines stempels om een boord te creëren.

We have one more week of summer break left and I’m planning on making the most out of it. The weather might even be coöperating with us. My mother-in-law celebrated her birthday over the weekend and this was the card I made for her. I made a scene with the flowers stamps from Skipping Stones Designs Dandelion Dreams set. They’re white embossed directly onto my patterned paper. The sentiment is from that same set and is stamped with Cough Syrup Dye ink by Jenni Bowlin on a strip of white cardstock.

I tied a double bow with this divine Covert vintage seam binding from the Ribbon Carousel and topped it off with a vintage button from my stash.

Sympathy

In my latest Basic Grey DT box I also received this gorgeous Floral Dot background stamp from the What’s Up collection. I didn’t get much chance to use it, until now. * In mijn laatste Basic Grey DT box kreeg ik ook deze mooie Floral Dot achtergrond stempel van de What’s Up collectie. Ik kreeg nog niet echt de kans om hem te gebruiken, tot nu.

I made this sympathy card and stamped the background stamp with Wheatgrass Pigment ink onto black cardstock. * Ik maakte deze kaart en stempelde de achtergrond met Wheatgrass pigment inkt op zwart cardstock.

The flowers and leaves are colored with colored pencils, to add a subtle bit of color to the card. I like the look of color pencils on black cardstock. * De bloemen en blaadjes kleurde ik in met kleurpotloden om een subtiele kleurtoets aan de kaart te geven. Ik vind kleurpotloden op zwart papier wel mooi.

Now I’m hoping I don’t need this card any time soon. * Nu maar hopen dat ik deze kaart niet te snel nodig heb.

Grey and/or kraft projects

Today is groupday again at myStamp BOX. All of the DT members got the challenge to create something with grey and/or kraft colors. With all of the bright summer colors being slapped around our ears, it wasn’t an easy task to create something as reserved. But I decided to go the extra mile and create an all kraft card. * Vandaag is er opnieuw een groepspost bij myStamp BOX. Alle DT leden werden uitgedaagd om iets te creëren met kraft en/of grijs als kleuren. Met alle frisse zomerkleuren, die nu overal opduiken, was het niet zo eenvoudig om zo’n ingetogen project te creëren. Maar ik besliste nog een stapje verder te gaan en maakte een kaart helemaal in kraft.

This card had minimal supplies: a piece of kraft cardstock, 1 stamp set, a Versamark ink pad, and clear embossing powder. All elements are clear embossed for extra visibility. * Deze kaart werd met een minimale hoeveelheid benodigdheden gemaakt: een stuk kraft cardstock, 1 stempelset, Versamartk inkt, en helder embossingpoeder.

All year long

Today is my day on the myStamp BOX blog again. I wanted to show that the myStamp Box (holiday) sets are very versatile and can be used for many occasion all through the year. I made two cards with the Holiday Monkeys set. * Vandaag is het opnieuw mijn dag op het blog van myStamp BOX. Ik wilde heel graag tonen dat de myStamp BOX (feestdagen) sets eigenlijk heel veelzijdig zijn en voor vele gelegenheden het hele jaar door kunnen gebruikt worden. Ik maakte twee kaarten met de Holiday Monkeys set.

This first card I made is for a boy’s first communion. I stamped the monkey onto some patterned papers, then trimmed and paper pieced him together. The frame he’s standing in is the polaroid frame from the Pixel Perfect set, which is clear embossed onto white cardstock. * Deze eerste kaart maakte is voor de eerste communie van een jongen. Ik stempelde de aap op dessinpapier, knipte hem uit en kleefde hem weer samen op de kaart. Het kader waarin hij staat ik het polaroid frame van de Pixel Perfect set, die hier helder geëmbossed is op wit papier.

The gift is also from the Holiday Monkeys set. Here it is stamped with black StazOn, and then colored with Faber-Castell Big Brush Pens. The sentiment reads ‘Hooray’. * Het cadeau is ook van de Holiday Monkeys set. Hier stempelde ik hem in zwarte StazOn inkt, en kleurde hem in met Faber-Castell Big Brush pens. 

I used that same gift with the same coloring for this second card. A very clean and simple card, which can be used for various occasions. The sentiment is from the Programmed Robots set. I didn’t ink the word ‘programmed’ and the underscore at the end of the sentiment, and ended up with a perfect versatile sentiment. * Datzelfde ongekleurde cadeau gebruikte ik ook op de tweede kaart. Een heel sober en eenvoudig kaartje, dat voor verscheidene gelegenheden kan gebruikt worden. De wens is van de Programmed Robots set. Ik inktte het woord ‘programmed’ en de underscore op het einde van de wens niet, en eindigde met een perfect veelzijdige wens.

myStamp BOX 12 Days of Christmas

Today I’m hosting the 12th and final day of the 12 Days of Christmas series over at the myStamp BOX blog. There have been some inspiring and creative  projects . * Vandaag ben ik de gastvrouw voor de 12e en laatste dag van de 12 Days of Christmas reeds op het blog van myStamp BOX. Indien je de vorige dagen nog niet bent langs geweest, ga dan zeker eens een kijkje nemen op het blog naar het werk van de andere leden van het design team. Er zijn een aantal inspirerende en creatieve projecten te zien.For day 12 I made a 12 frame photo display using, of course, some fabulous myStamp BOX stamp sets and Crate Paper’s Peppermint papers and chipboard elements. * Voor dag 12 maakte ik een foto display met 12 kadertjes met, natuurlijk, een aantal leuke myStamp BOX stempelsets en Crate Papers Peppermint papier en chipboard elementen.

I first painted the frame with a leftover wall paint in the color Shadow. A really nice and neutral color, that fits about everything. * Ik schilderde eerst het frame met een overschot muurverf in de kleur Schaduw. Een mooi en neutraal kleur, dat bij bijna alles past.

For the big Merry Christmas sentiment I used the Royal Flush alphabet set with white embossing powder. I love that this set is so versatile and usable for many occasions. The word just fitted the box, a perfect match. * Voor de grote Merry Christmas wens gebruikte ik de Royal Flush alfabet set met wit embossing poeder. Ik vind het leuk dat die set zo veelzijdig is en past bij veel verschillende gelegenheden. Mijn woord paste net in het kadertjes, een perfecte match.

The bottom picture is again one of last year’s, with Nora posing in front of the tree. The other picture is from two years ago, when Nora is trying to open her present. I don’t have much good pictures of that Christmas, since we were all sick back then. * De onderste foto is er weer één van vorig jaar, terwijl Nora bij de boom poseert. De andere foto is er één van twee jaar geleden, terwijl Nora haar cadeautje probeert open te prutsen. Ik heb niet zoveel goede foto’s van dat jaar, aangezien we allemaal ziek waren toen.

All of the other stamped elements are from the HoHoHo set. The fun reindeer and Santa match the feel of the patterned paper perfectly. * Alle andere gestempelde elementen zijn van de HoHoHo set. Het leuke rendier en de kerstman passen perfect bij het scrappapier.
