myStamp BOX Single Layer Valentine’s Card

Today’s my day over on the myStamp BOX blog and I challenged myself to make a single layer card this time. I tend to add a lot more layers to my projects lately, and thought it was good to simplify for a change. I first sketched out a heart with pencil onto my cardfront and then started filling in the heart with several small stamps. * Vandaag is het mijn dag op het blog van myStamp BOX en ik daagde mezelf uit om een kaart met slechts één laag te maken. Ik heb de laatste tijd de neiging om meer lagen aan mijn projecten te gaan toevoegen, en dus dacht ik dat het goed was om voor de verandering een keertje te vereenvoudigen. Ik schetste eerste een hart met potlood en vulde het dan in met allerlei kleine stempeltjes.

Since I was feeling the card was still too white and needed a little something extra, I colored in the heart with distress inks. The sentiment is from the Whatever! set. * Aangezien ik het gevoel had dat de kaart nog wat te wit was en nog iets extra kon gebruiken, kleurde ik het hart in met distress inkt. De wens is van de Whatever! set.

We’re halfway in this 7 Days of Valentine Inspiration series. I hope I’ve been able to inspire you up until now. Ribbon Carousel & Totally Stampalicious Blog Hop

For today’s hop I used this adorable stamp from the Balloon Boy Bugaboo set. I stamped the little fellow onto some Sticky Back Canvas with Fired Brick Distress Ink. This stamp set has some amazing sentiments as well.

The red and ivory jute/burlap twine from the Ribbon Carousel store is tied up in a bow underneath the sentiment strip. Patterned papers are from the What’s Up collection from BasicGrey, which matched the stamps really well.

Scrap365 July Sketch Challenge

Scrap365 also has a challenge blog, Sketchbook365, on which a sketch challenge is posted once a month. Today the July sketch went up, along with some inspiration from the design team. * Scrap365 heeft ook een challenge blog, Sketchbook365, waarop maandelijks een nieuwe schets challenge wordt geplaatst. Vandaag ging de schets voor juli live, samen met een hoop inspiratie van het design team.  I had a lot of fun working with this sketch, which is based on a very creative layout by designer Melenia Agapides. But I turned it into something a lot more CAS. * Dit was een heel leuke schets voor mee aan de slag te gaan. Hij is gebaseerd op een heel creatieve layout van designer Melenia Agapides. Maar ik maakte er iets veel eenvoudiger van.

I’m not a kind of person that makes a lot of layouts about pets, this is actually my very first. But I felt our Mira deserved a spot in our album. After all she was part of our lives for little over 4 years, the first pet my husband and I had. * Ik ben niet meteen iemand, die veel layouts over huisdieren maakt, dit is eigenlijk mijn eerste. Maar ik had wel het gevoel dat Mira een plekje in ons album verdiende. Tenslotte maakte ze iets meer dan 4 jaar deel uit van ons leven, het eerste huisdier dat mijn man en ik hadden.

There’s some subtle background stamping to the layout, which is unfortunately not really visible on these pictures. I used the Grid cling stamps by Studio Calico, but only inked certain areas of the stamp. Underneath the picture there’s a glassine bag in which the shipping tag with journaling is sitting. Furthermore I used my newest masking tapes and a Milk Cap flair. * Er is een subtiel gestempelde achtergrond, die jammer genoeg op deze foto’s niet zo goed te zien is. Ik gebruikte de Grid cling stempel van Studio Calico, maar bracht slechts op bepaalde zones van de stempel inkt aan. Onder de foto zit een pergamijn zakje, waarin een shipping tag met journaling op zit. Verder gebruikte ik mijn nieuwste masking tapes en een Milk Cap flair.

Dads are the best

… but not the easiest to make cards for, however. Father’s Day is just a few days away now and I wrapped up some cards in the last few days. I have two of them to share here today. * … maar niet de gemakkelijkste om kaartjes voor te maken. Vaderdag is er al binnen een paar dagen, dus maakte ik de voorbije dagen een aantal kaarten. Ik kan er jullie vandaag al twee tonen.

This first one here is mostly made with American Crafts products. The patterned papers are from the Chap collection, a very cool boyish line, which is perfect for the men in our lives, if you ask me. I bought it some time ago to scrap some pictures of Tuur, but didn’t get around to that just yet. * Deze eerste kaart is grotendeels met American Crafts producten gemaakt. Het dessinpapier is van de Chap collectie, een coole jongenslijn, perfect voor de mannen in ons leven, als je’t mij vraagt. Ik kocht dit een tijd geleden om een aantal foto’s van Tuur mee te scrappen, maar kwam er nog niet aan toe.

This second card is a coallition between Basic Grey and Echo Park papers. I loved how the colors fitted together. I added some brown chevrons to the background with a LawnFawn stamp and layered the journaling card onto some layers of white cardstock to tie it all together. * De tweede kaart is een coallitie tussen Basic Grey en Echo Park. Ik vond de kleuren goed combineren. Ik voegde een aantal bruine chevrond toe met een LawnFawn stempel en plaatste het journaling kaartje op enkele laagjes wit cardstock om alles tot een geheel te maken.

The Basic Grey title sticker was perfect for this card. I don’t have any Mother’s Day or Father’s Day related sentiment stamps, so had to manage with other elements. I should bare that in mind for next year and be more prepared. * De Basic Grey titel sticker was perfect voor deze kaart. Ik heb eigenlijk geen moeder- of vaderdag gerelateerde stempels, dus moest ik me redden met andere elementen. Moet ik in mijn achterhoofd houden voor volgend jaar, zodat ik meer voorbereid ben.

I hope you had a bit of last-minute inspiration for Father’s Day (in case you still needed some). The male cards came together surprisingly well this time, altough I consider the first one to be my warming-up card – lol. * Ik hoop dat ik jullie een beetje last-minute vaderdagsinspiratie kon brengen (mocht dit nog nodig zijn). De mannenkaartjes gingen verrassend goed dit keer, hoewel ik die eerste toch een beetje als een opwarmertje zie – lol.

May you always walk in sunshine

This must be one of my current favorite sentiments. I love using it on cards, it’s very versatile. The sentiment is from the Bring on the Sun set by Ali Edwards. I stamped it here with Crushed Olive Distress Ink. * Dit moet één van mijn huidige favoriete wensen zijn. Ik gebruik hem graag op kaarten, hij kan voor verschillende gelegenheden. De wens is van de Bring on the Sun set van Ali Edwards, hier in Crushed Olive Distress Ink gestempeld.

I made this card with Basic Grey’s Plumeria 6×6 paper pad and one of the transparancies of that collection. Transparancies are kind of a new thing for me. I had never used them before. I love how it turned out on this card however. * Ik maakte deze kaart met Basic Grey’s Plumeria 6×6 paper pad en één van de transparanten. Transparanten zijn eigenlijk nieuw voor mij, ik had ze voordien nog nooit gebruikt. Maar ik vind het wel heel mooi hoe deze hier op de kaart eruit ziet. 

The gorgeous vintage button at the top is also from Basic Grey’s Plumeria collection. I added it to add some extra dimension to the card, to make it less flat. * De prachtige vintage knoop bovenaan is er ook één van Basic Grey’s Plumeria collectie. Ik gebruikte hem hier om de kaart wat extra dimensie te geven, om ze minder ‘plat’ te maken.

Stitched hearts

While Tuur keeps on exercising his little legs, I thought I might just steal a minute to share this card with you all. * Terwijl Tuur zijn kleine beentjes blijft oefenen, wou ik snel even van de gelegenheid gebruik maken om deze kaart aan jullie te tonen.

As practically everything I make these days, this card has a sprayed and splattered background. The pink I use is a Glimmer Mist, but it works just as well as any other spray ink. I do dab it with a paper towel immediately after applying though. * Zoals bijna alles wat ik de laatste tijd maak, heeft deze kaart een gespoten en gespatte achtergrond. het roze dat ik gebruik is een Glimmer Mist, maar dat werkt net zo goed als ieder andere soort spray inkt. Ik dep echter wel met een stukje keukenpapier meteen na het aanbrengen.

The bigger patterned paper heart is cut out from a Basic Grey Kissing Booth paper. It was used to trace the two stitched hearts. All patterned papers are from that same collection. The sentiment is from the Programmed Robots set by myStamp BOX. * Het grotere hart van dessinpapier is zo uit een Basic Grey papier van de Kissing Booth lijn geknipt. Ik gebruikte dat hart om de genaaide harten op mijn kaart te tekenen. Alle dessinpapier is van diezelfde collectie. De wens is er eentje van de Programmed Robots set van myStamp BOX.

The day started out a bit brighter than the past few days, but rain is pouring down again now. Perfect weather for some more crafting time, if you ask me. myStamp BOX Earth Day celebration

On Sunday, April 22nd it is Earth Day. Along with all of the other DT’s we are celebrating Earth Day today over at myStamp BOX. All of us have some nature inspired projects for you, mostly also with an element of recycling. I made this card. * Op zondag 22 april is het Earth Day. Samen met de andere DT’s vieren we vandaag Earth Day bij myStamp BOX. Ieder van ons heeft een op de natuur geïnspireerd project gemaakt, meestal ook met een gerecycleerd element erbij. Ik maakte deze kaart.

The background is a piece of paper from the Kissing Booth collection by Basic Grey. I inked the edges a bit and stamped some elements from the Funky Flowers set onto it. Near the bottom I stamped a border using the Repeat after Me set. The roses element is a recycled packaging from some Kissing Booth embellishments. The new Basic Grey collection all have embellishment packages with a fabulous floral design on the back. I’ve been hoarding mine to use as journaling cards or accents in my projects. This is just one of the many options. * De achtergrond is een stuk papier van de Kissing Booth collectie van Basic Grey. Ik inkte de randen en stempelde een aantal elementen van de Funky Flowers set erop. Dicht bij de onderkant stempelde ik een boord met de Repeat after Me set. het rozenelement is een gerecycleerd pakketje van Kissing Booth embellishments. De nieuwe Basic Grey collecties hebben allemaal embellishment pakketjes met een prachtig bloemendessin op de achterkant. Ik ben de mijne allemaal aan het bewaren om ze als journaling cards of accenten op mijn projecten te gebruiken. Dit is slechts één van de opties.

I played with my new Dear Lizzy stamps for this page. This jar is just the cutest if you ask me. I wrapped some baker’s twine around the top and stamped hearts and flowers from that same set in the jars. * Ik speelde met mijn nieuwe Dear Lizzy stempels voor deze pagina. Die bokaal is gewoon zo schattig, als je’t mij vraagt. Ik wikkelde wat baker’s twine rond de dop en stempelde hartjes en bloemen van dezelfde set in het bokaaltje.

April is going to be a very busy month crafting wise in my agenda. I’m hoping to have some things revealed for you along the way as well. Happy March!! Same story as ever: really? March? Already?? Ha! Time sure flies. For my calendar page today I pulled out some Crate Paper goodness from a while back and made a quilt-inspired background. * Fijne maand maart!! Hetzelfde verhaal als altijd: echt? Maart? Nu al?? Ha! Wat vliegt de tijd voorbij. Voor mijn kalenderpagina vandaag heb ik wat mooi Crate Paper dessinpapier van een tijdje geleden verzameld en een quilt-geïnspireerde achtergrond gemaakt.

 

Sorry I went MIA for the first part of the week. To catch you all up a bit on my week up ’til now: I had an important job interview on tuesday in Antwerp, from which I’m expecting news at the beginning of next week. Keeping my fingers crossed here. Nora’s got hearing problems again due to ear infections. So sad for her. We now have a referral for a specialist to consider if tubes are maybe a solution. And on a brighter note: I received an e-mail with some very good craft-related news, but I can’t spill too much now. I hope to tell you all more about it very soon. Thanks for stopping by! * Sorry dat ik het eerste deel van de week afwezig was. Om jullie allemaal een beetje bij te praten over mijn week tot nu toe: op dinsdag reed ik naar Antwerpen voor een belangrijk sollicitatiegesprek, waarover ik begin volgende week meer hoor. Ik ben heel hard aan het duimen voor wat goed nieuws. Nora heeft opnieuw gehoorproblemen door oorontstekingen. Zo jammer voor haar. We hebben nu een doorverwijzing naar een specialist, die zal bekijken of buisjes het probleem zou kunnen verhelpen. En een positievere noot: ik kreeg een mailtje met heel goed scrap-gerelateerd nieuws, maar ik kan op dit moment er nog niet veel over vertellen. Ik hoop jullie binnenkort te kunnen inlichten. myStamp BOX January showcase

This months theme was blues and/or purples. Here’s my take. * Het thema deze maand was blauw en/of paars. Hier is wat ik er van maakte.

Can you tell I was a bit out of my comfort zone with these colors?? That on top of a period that was lacking inspiration anyways, almost took me down – ha. * Kun je zien dat ik een beetje uit mijn normale doen was met die kleuren?? Daar nog een bijna inspiratieloze periode bovenop, en ik had er bijna de brui aan gegeven – ha.
