Time to Celebrate

Today I have this cute birthday card to share with you all. It’s my dad’s birthday and I worked with Studio Calico’s Darling Dear paper pad for the occasion. This collection has some perfect patterns for a manly card. I think it might even become my go-to collection for father’s days and male birthdays and such. * Vandaag een leuk verjaardagskaartje. Het is mijn vader’s verjaardag en ik gebruikte Studio Calico’s Darling Dear paper pad voor deze gelegenheid. Deze collectie heeft enkele patronen perfect voor mannenkaartjes. Ik denk dat het zelfs mijn meest gebruikte collectie zal worden voor vaderdags- en mannelijke verjaardagskaartjes zal worden.

I chose to work with a lot of camera’s, because it’s one of my dad’s hobbies. The fabulous vintage camera image is just stunning and makes a fun focal point for a card. I also added one of the wood veneer cameras from Studio Calico. The sentiment is from Kelly Purkey’s Rad stamp set. * Ik gebruikte heel veel camera’s op mijn kaart, omdat dat één van de hobbies van het feestvarken is. De mooie vintage camera is prachtig als focuspunt. Ik gebruikte ook één van de houten cameraatjes van Studio Calico. De wens is van Kelly Purkey’s Rad stempelset.

Happy Birthday | myStamp BOX Card

I made this myStamp BOX birthday card back in December, but didn’t come to sharing it here on the blog yet. I was in the middle of my Christmas series back then, and although the card is made with holiday papers by Crate Paper, I decided to keep it for after the holidays. And so I’d like to share today. * Ik maakte deze myStamp BOX verjaardagskaart in december, maar kwam er nog niet toe om ze hier op mijn blog te tonen. Hoewel de kaart met kerstpapieren is gemaakt, vond ik ze niet passen in mijn kerstserie, en dus besloot ik ze te houden tot na de feestdagen. En hier is ze dan eindelijk.

I stamped the flower petal by petal with one of the stamps from the Ornamental Flowers set. It has 3 layers, each of which I wrinkled up after trimming it out to give some extra dimension. The sentiment is from the Whatever set. * Ik stempelde de bloem blaadje voor blaadje met een stempel van de Ornamental Flowers set. Ze heeft 3 lagen, die elk verkreukeld werden na het uitknippen om extra dimensie te geven. De wens is van de Whatever set.

As I mentioned before, all the papers are from Crate Paper’s Peppermint collection, which obviously can be used for other occasions too. And since this card was made for a December birthday, I don’t think it’s a problem to use holiday papers. * Zoals ik voordien al vermelde, zijn alle papieren van Crate Papers Peppermint collectie, die dus duidelijk ook voor andere gelegenheden kan gebruikt worden. En aangezien deze kaart voor een december verjaardag werd gemaakt, vond ik het zeker geen probleem om kerstpapier te gebruiken.

Congratulations, Mom

Yesterday my mom celebrated her birthday. This was the card I’d made for her. I gave it to her along with a pair of earrings I bought for her sunday on the creative fair. * Gisteren vierde mijn moeder haar verjaardag. Dit is de kaart die ik voor haar gemaakt had. Ik gaf er haar een paar oorringen bij die ik zondag op Ratteljee voor haar had gekocht.

I turned to my Konnichiwa 6×6 paper pad for this occasion. I really loved this lime green paper with the birds and thought it would make a perfect tall and narrow card. * Voor deze kaart gebruikte ik mijn Konnichiwa 6×6 paper pad. Ik vind dit limoengroene papier met de vogeltjes één van de mooiste in de collectie en dacht dat het perfect was voor een lange smalle kaart.

It feels like I kind of lost my groove in cardmaking. I find myself struggling a lot with them. Too many other (scrapbooking) projects have pushed cardmaking away from the front row. It gives me mixed feelings. Never enough time, right. * Ik heb het gevoel de laatste tijd een beetje mijn groove voor kaartmaken kwijt te zijn. Ik worstel er nogal mee. Teveel andere (scrapbook) projecten hebben het kaarten maken een beetje op de achtergrond geduwd. Ik heb er wat gemengde gevoelens bij. Nooit genoeg tijd, zeker.

Leftovers

Just a quick post today to share a card I made with some leftovers from my 6×6 Picadilly paper pad by Basic Grey. Hope you’ve all had a great weekend! We’ve been fighting the flu, colds and ear infections over the last few weeks. And winter hasn’t even started yet.

Een snelle post vandaag om jullie een kaart te tonen, die ik met wat overschotjes van mijn 6×6 Picadilly boekje van Basic Grey maakte. Ik hoop dat jullie een goed weekend hebben gehad! World Card Making Day

I just couldn’t let today go by without posting a card, or a set in this case. Happy World Card Making Day to all of you! For the occasion I made an invitation set for a birthday party with some (surprise, huh!) Basic Grey papers. Life of the party! The collection just couldn’t be more fit to make party invitations. – Ik kon vandaag niet laten voorbij gaan zonder een kaart, of in dit geval een kaartset, te posten. Fijne World Card Making Day! Voor de gelegenheid maakte ik een set uitnodigingen voor een verjaardagsfeestje met (je had het waarschijnlijk nooit verwacht!) Basic Grey papieren. Life of the Party! De collectie kon gewoon niet meer geschikt zijn om uitnodigingen voor een feestje te maken.

I’m dying to get this blog back into regular mode within the next few weeks! Designing, guestblogging, guestdesigning, … All incredibly fun, but there were a lot of random posts the last few weeks. Hoping to found my rythm again very soon! – Ik hoop mijn blog weer een beetje in zijn gewone doen te krijgen de volgende weken! Color Cue {15}

Hi,

I’m back with a fun card I made inspired on the current WPlus9 Color Cue. I wanted to try to make a card with all the bright colors. – Hier ben ik terug met een leuke kaart, geïnspireerd op de huidige WPlus9 Color Cue. Ik wilde proberen een kaart te maken met al die zonnige kleuren.

So here’s what I came up with: – Dit maakte ik ervan:

I expected this would be a tough challenge, but eventually this card came together pretty easily. I love the Emma’s Shoppe patterned paper. I mixed them with some older October Afternoon papers. – Ik verwachtte dat dit een nogal moeilijke uitdaging zou worden, maar uiteindelijk ging het vrij snel. Ik gebruikte mijn mooie Emma’s Shoppe scrappapier en mengde er wat oudere October Afternoon papieren tussen.

Back again. With the card I made for my mother. I couldn’t blog about it sooner ’cause my mom is a follower. – Alweer terug, met de kaart die ik voor mijn moeder maakte. Ik kon ze nog niet vroeger tonen op de blog, want mijn moeder is een volger.

This is actually a bookmark that goes in a book I made for my mother, inspired on Mary Ann Moss’ Remains of the Day class. I can totally recommend that class, I had a lot of fun. I will definitely share my book with you later. – Het is eigenlijk een bladwijzer voor in een boek dat ik voor mijn moeder maakte, geïnspireerd op Mary Ann Moss’ Remains of the Day lessen. Zeer aan te bevelen, ik vond het heel leuk om te doen. Ik laat jullie zeker later mijn boek nog zien.

My Core’dinations Creative Frenzy

Hi,

You girls must be just the best bunch of friends a papercrafting girl could ever want. Thank you for all of your kind words!! I’ve missed the blogging and surfing so much, it’s good to be getting back on track.

Lots of projects for you today. A few weeks ago, I came by the Core’dinations blog and saw this DT call. I would love to be part of a design team some day and I so happen to adore the Core’dinations cardstock a lot. So I got to work and here are my three projects. Let’s start off with this page.

This is kind of new to me, I usually don’t share my layouts with you. Why not? Well, because I’m newbie at scrapbooking. I really enjoy making these layouts, but they don’t come together as easily as cards, and I’m often not completely satisfied with my pages yet. I just need a whole lot more exercising, I think.

Aren’t these felt drops just the cutest?? I always put the date on my pages, this Heidi Swapp date stamp is one of my favorites to do so.

I used some cardstock from the Core’dinations Vintage collection, which is sanded along the edges.

The picture on this layout has a sentimental value to me. I had been asking my husband for a family picture for a few weeks. I really wanted a picture of the three of us before the baby made it’s way (we both are a bit camera shy). Only two hours after making this one, we had to pack up my bags to go to the hospital. Our little boy was born some hours later.

This layout has a completely different style from the one before. On this one I used regular Color Core cardstock, I sanded the red a bit to match the colors of the patterned paper better.

I used some white cardstock to mat the heart so it would stand out more. The date got inserted with these small Making Memories stickers. I wanted to make some white splashes on my page to break up the grey, I love this look. First time I tried this out and rather stressfull since I didn’t have another full sheet of that grey cardstock on hand. Unfortunately they all turned out to be the same size, a bit big for my taste. Funny, isn’t it? Better next time.

Finally I made this card set. It’s a very neutral set of birthday cards, which fits men as well as women, I think. I particularly adore the small cards, but I added two larger ones to show of the beautiful colored cardstock some more. They are just really clean and easy birthday cards.

The die-cut on the small card I found in a package that was sent to me by my dear friend Irene – Thanks, Irene!! It was just perfect for one of these little cards.

I would really love to get a chance to be part of this design team. Keep those fingers crossed for me, please!

I bought some new distress colors the other day and so I had to try them out, right? This is a card I made for my next door neighbour, who is well in her nineties. She celebrates her birthday in a few weeks. This card is inspired by the current challenge sketch at 2S4Y. It uses the colors of the Embellish challenge, although I don’t think it fits the vintage request.

Ik kocht onlangs een paar nieuwe distress kleurtjes en moest ze natuurlijk uittesten. Deze kaart maakte ik voor mijn buurvrouw, die de 90 ondertussen al ruil voorbij is. Ze viert haar verjaardag binnen een paar weken. Deze kaart is geïnspireerd op de huidige challengeschets van 2S4Y. Ze is gemaakt in de kleuren van de Embellish challenge, maar ik denk niet dat je dit vintage kan noemen.

I finally had the chance to play with my new Papertrey stamps after waiting for about six weeks for my order to arrive at my doorstep. I loved this ticket set from the moment I laid eyes on it. Since I don’t have a die-cutting machine, I had to trim them out by hand. I used a paper piercer to enhance the ticket look. I was inspired by the challenge sketch by Skipping Stones Design and will enter this card in the current punches challenge on the ‘A Passion for Papertrey’ blog too.

Ik had eindelijk de kans om met mijn nieuwe Papertrey stempels te spelen nadat ik maar liefst zes weken wachtte op mijn bestelling. Ik was meteen gek van deze ticket set. Aangezien ik geen die-cutting machine heb, moest ik de ticketjes met de hand uitknippen. Ik gebruikte een naald om de ticket look af te werken. Ik liet me inspireren door de challenge schets van Skipping Stones Design en zal de kaart ook inzenden voor de huidige ponschallenge op de ‘A Passion for Papertrey’ blog.
