Dad

I had another post scheduled for this evening, but I last minutely changed it to a post with another card. We celebrated Father’s Day past Sunday, but I believe in many areas it is still to come this Sunday. So, since this card got just rejected for a PaperCrafts publication call, I thought I’d quickly share it here with you. Perhaps you can find some inspiration in it if you still need to whip some card up for that superman in your life.

Dad

CAS to the bone, isn’t it. But for some reason, I really like how this one turned out. Papers are again from Studio Calico’s Darling Dear 6×6 paper pad (I really need to put it out of my sight, so I can stop using it). The same for that Ali Edwards stamp – lol. The letter stickers are older Amy Tangerine Thickers.

Dad detail

I hope you all like it, even though it’s a reject. So, now I’m off to laundry and unpacking again. We just got home from our holiday this afternoon and the first loads of laundry are going in the washer. At least I know what I’ll be doing this weekend – lol. Have a great one! Prettig weekend!

I Wish | Scrapperin April ColorLab

Today a new Color Lab post went up on the Scrapperin blog. Felicitas chose a divine color combo to get inspired by and this is what I ended up with. I used a bunch of masking tape for this layout, and just placed one strip under another along the right side of my page.

I Wish

After adhering the strips of tape down, I ran my layout through my sewing machine. And then I added embellishments overtop to give the page more texture and dimension. These items are really a mishmash of old and new, different brands and different collections.

I Wish detail 1All stamps used on this layout are from Scrapperin’s Belle Pastel set. How cute is that bow! At the bottom and top I also used some of Heidi Swapp’s rub-ons.

I Wish detail 2

Be sure to stop by the Scrapperin blog for more inspiration. There are some fabulous projects on show. I hope to see you again tomorrow!

Follow the White Rabbit Easter Blog Hop

hop

Happy Easter and welcome to the Easter blog hop! You should have come here from the blog of Nathalie Kalbach. Today is the day when we tumble down the rabbit’s hole and hop after the White Rabbit. The rabbit hops from blog to blog, from country to country all around the cyber scrapbooking world!

Although the countries and styles vary and designers participating had a free choice what to create for the hop, the pieces of art have all something in common. If you’re familiar with Alice in Wonderland, you might remember that the White Rabbit, which Alice followed and found the Wonderland, had a pocket watch. So in this hop the common theme is the time piece. You can find an interpretation or a way to incorporate a clock in every creation! Inspiring, right?

palkinnot

So please hop along and remember to leave a comment at every stage! That way you ensure as many tickets for the raffle as possible. You’ll have just a week to participate (to April 8th at noon GMT) for the giveaway put together from donations from 7 Dots Studio, BadgesFolie, Garn&Mehr, Stromsvigt and Wycinanka.

So enjoy the hop and find the inspiring Wonderland of scrapbooking!

Spring

A few weeks back I treated myself to a bouquet of these lovely tulips. Instant spring in our home, so it felt. And instant spring in my scrapbookalbum. I started out with a sheet of white cardstock and applied a good layer of gesso, adding some texture to the page. After drying, I sprayed Glimmer Mists onto the gesso, added some water and let the colors bleed. I followed the color scheme of the tulips for my page.

Spring detail 1

Next to the greens and pinks, I also brought in some gold (in small amounts) with glitter tape by American Crafts, and with some golden Smooch sparkle accent ink onto the chipboard feathers by Jenni Bowlin. In the cluster of embellishments at the right bottom corner of the picture you can find a pocket watch, die-cut from a Teresa Collins paper.

Spring detail 2 This turned out to be a layout with almost all of my favorite products, techniques, and brands at the moment. I was a bit sceptic at first, but I’m so addicted to this fabric tape. This one is from Maya Road.

Spring detail 3

Now it’s time to hop along to Adrienne Ford‘s blog. Thank you very much for stopping by today! Enjoy the rest of the hop!

Miracle | myStamp BOX February Showcase

The February showcase will be up on the myStamp BOX blog today. All designers agreed to make a project inspired on the Creative Jumpstart series Nathalie Kalbach set up earlier this year. In case you’re not familiar with the concept: Nathalie asked a bunch of amazing designer from around the world to help her make a series to jumpstart our creativity. One of the designers was Heidi Swapp, who certainly sparked something for me with her video. I made this layout inspired by her work.

MiracleHeidi Swapp talked in her video about using spray inks along with masks. I immediately fell in love with the stunning effect she created on her page. Since I don’t have an awful lot of masks on hand, I chose to work with a heart as well and placed a chevron mask overtop. The result is stunning, if I may say so myself. The little feet on the layout are Nora’s. She was just a few weeks old back then.

Miracle detail 1I worked with my beloved IceBox Sprinkler by October Afternoon and with the Water Cooler Mr. Huey from Studio Calico. I first put down both masks and used the Water Cooler color, then removed the chevrons but kept the heart and added the IceBox spray overtop. I finished this up with a layer of hair spray to prevent that the Sprinkler ink would come off.

Miracle detail 2

For the title and a few of the embellishments, I used WOW glitter embossing powder. The title is stamped with the Friday Night Stencil alphabet set by myStamp BOX. It’s a fun set for building titles. The heart stamp is from the Seal it! set, which I also used for the seal next to the resin flower on the left side of the layout.

Miracle detail 3Don’t forget to stop by the myStamp BOX blog to find out what designers and techniques the rest of the team got inspired by.

Smile | Sketchbook365 March Challenge

Yesterday a new sketch challenge went live over at Sketchbook365, Scrap365′s challenge blog. This month’s sketch was really up my alley, with the many layers, the white space, and the overall design.

KIM WOODS HOPES

Here’s my layout. The picture was taken on a picnic last summer. I went for an almost completely monochromatic design. It’s really an ‘old meets new’ kind of layout, the kind that is my favorite.

Smile

I kept the polaroid element, but didn’t add my picture to it. Instead I stamped the polaroid frame from myStamp BOX’ Pixel Perfect set with white StazOn ink onto a piece of vellum. I placed the floral patterned paper from Studio Calico’s Darling Dear behind it and layered it behind my photo.

Smile detail 1

The title is die-cut with my Silhouette, I found it in the Silhouette online store. It has taken me a bit, but now I’m really on a roll with my Cameo. The small label above the title was also a Silhouette cut by the way.

Smile detail 2

Behind the picture are a number of layers build with tags and die-cuts. A mix of older and new elements. Layouts where I get to mix up elements from different manufacturers and different collections, from different ‘birth’ years are usually my favorite. I like the fun and the challenge of trying to match it all together.

Smile detail 3

If you have a chance to play along, that would be awesome. Check out the details of the challenge here. Take some time to check out the inspiration from the other designer as well while you’re there.

Thanks for stopping by!

After a bit of consideration, I decided to register for Ali Edwards’ One Little Word class again this year. I chose for ‘balance’ to be my word for 2013. I usually set myself a couple of goals at the beginning of a new year. Not really resolutions, more like directions of where I would like to end up or what I would like to accomplish by the end of the year. This layout marks the start of 2013 for me.

18854r_dt_blog

I mostly used papers from BasicGrey’s Fiction collection for this layout. The warm colors of the floral background work really well with a black-and-white picture. The shipping tag hides the journaling behind the picture.

18855r_dt_blog

These Fact & Fiction journaling cards are just awesome. I absolutely adore the ledger one with the tab. The butterfly is one of the many chipboard elements for this collection. Of course I also had to use some masking tapes.

18856r_dt_blog

I just keep coming back to these two types of Thickers. I might need to stock up on them. The tiny orange letter stickers are also from BasicGrey’s Fact & Fiction collections.

Your letter for today is: I

Scrapperin Designer’s Blog Hop

Web

Welcome to the scrapperin designer’s blog hop!
Today, we introduce you to our new designers as well as we celebrate our 1st anniversary with you and through this blog hop (and giveaway).

Visit all 21 designer’s blogs, where you can read „five funy facts“ about each member and see a creative project. Leave a comment on each of their blog hop posts, then go back to the scrapperin blog hop post and leave a comment there for a chance to win one of the anniversary prizes, the giveaway is open for internationals. On Jan. 19th 2013 at 12pm CET we will close the comments and the randomly picked winners will be announced on Jan. 20th on the scrapperin blog.

Okay, now here are my five ‘funny’ facts:

1. I am pretty camera-shy, if you haven’t noticed yet. I usually sneak out of vision if pictures are taken. And if I really have to be in it, I try to hide behind the kids or my camera. Camera’s always make me highly uncomfortable. And yet again, afterwards, I always am sad to have almost no pictures of myself with the kids.

2. I am a big cookiemonster. Besides this scrapbooking thing, cookies are my #1 addiction. Followed very closely by some good Belgian chocolate – lol.

3. I am a very economical scrapper. I always try to get as much out of my supplies as possible, to the agree that I sometimes cut the papers away from behind my pictures , so I can use it on another project. I blame the addiction and passion for paper, so scared to be running out of it – lol.

4. I only have 4 pairs of shoes, 2 for winter, 2 for summer.

5. I am quite the perfectionist. I am like a buldog when it comes to finishing up a project, I won’t let it go until I’m 100% satisfied.

So now that you know the lot about me, let’s take a look at the project, shall we. I present to you my very first Scrapperin project.

18835r_dt_blog

This is a pretty simple layout when it comes to the amount of supplies needed for it. I started out with a sheet of patterned paper from BasicGrey’s Serenade collection. I added some white spray mist, the Form & Feder stamp set from Scrapperin with white ink, a flair, letter stickers, and a die-cut.

18837r_dt_blog

I first ran my paper through my sewing machine and stitched a couple of circles, which I then accentuated by adding circles with my spray ink. This works kind of as a frame for my pictures and makes your attention go that way.

18839r_dt_blog

I absolutely adore the Form & Feder stamp set by Scrapperin. I used quite a few of the stamps here on my layout, all in white pigment ink. I thought it look fun  to use this small arrows stamp to make a border along the top of my page.

Ok, now it’s hopping time again: hurry on over to Eva-Maria’s blog!

Free 2013 Calendar Printables | Wall Calendar Inspiration

Thank you very much for all your enthousiastic reactions to my free 2013 calendar printables. I’ve seen quite a few cute and gorgeous calendars in progress already. Don’t hesitate to share yours in the comment section. I would love to see.

Today I’d like to share some inspiration for my wall calendar. This one is off course more straight forward than yesterdays’ format. Just print, cut to size (15cm or 6″), and embellish. I usually don’t bind this type of wall calendars, but just make a little whole on top of every page to hang it on a pin or nail.

Free 2013 Calendar Printables | Desk Calendar Inspiration

Sorry to be a bit late with my calendar inspiration, things just kept coming up and getting in the way. But let’s get on with it now. If you want to download my free 2013 calendar printables, check here. Today I have some inspiration for the desk calendar for you.

I printed the desk calendar pages on some white cardstock and trimmed the pages to 10.5cm or 4 1/8″ high. I then punched the wholes for the binder rings first, before starting to embellish my pages.

You might have noticed that I didn’t start a monthly calendar on my blog this year. I’m taking a little break from calendars. I’ve been making them since August, and to avoid feeling as if I make calendars all year long, I decided to not have it as a monthly feature on my blog this year.

Feel free to download here and print your own set of calendar pages. And especially, don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions about assembling these. I would love it if you leave me a link in the comment section if you make your own desk calendar, so I can come and take a look at it.

Come checking back for more inspiration with the wall calendar tomorrow.
