RCC80 – Showers & Flowers

This months challenge theme over on the Ribbon Carousel blog is Showers & Flowers, perfect for April. It’s a pretty versatile theme. For my card I mixed some old with new. I used papers from the Promise Me 6×6 paper pad by SEI. A beautiful soft colored collection, with really fabulous designs. The floral background is one of my favorites from this paper pad. * Het challenge thema van deze maand of het blog van Ribbon Carousel is Showers & Flowers, perfect voor april. Het is een thema met zeer veel mogelijkheden. Voor mijn kaart mixte is oud en nieuw. Ik gebruikte papier van het Promise Me 6×6 paper pad van SEI. Een mooie zacht gekleurde collectie, met prachtige designs. De gebloemde achtergrond is één van mijn favorieten van dit papierblok.

I used a cameo from Maya Road, to the lady I added some white acrylic paint and Liquid Pearls for shimmer. The smaller oval is covered with patterned paper, the gold oval shape is also from this same collection by SEI. I thought it matched the atmosphere of the card perfectly. * Ik gebruikte een cameo van Maya Road, de dame schilderde ik eerst wit met acrylverf, en dan bracht ik een laagje Liquid Pearls aan voor een beetje glans. De kleinere ovaal is bekleed met dessinpapier, de gouden ovaal is van ook van dezelfde collectie van SEI. Ik vond dat dit perfect pastte bij de sfeer van deze kaart.

To finish up the card I tied some vintage seam binding around it, and added one of those paper flowers from Prima that were still in my stash from a long time ago. I love it when I can use one of those older items, and it still looks good. Do you still have some of these hanging around in your supplies? * Om de kaart af te werken strikte ik er vintage seam binding rond, en kleefde nog één van die papieren bloemetjes van Prima van jaren geleden vast. Ik vind het altijd heel erg fijn als ik zo’n ouder item kan gebruiken, en het er goed kan doen uitzien. Hebben jullie er zo nog rondhangen tussen jullie spullen?

I Think You’re Amazing | BasicGrey Hey Girl

Today BasicGrey’s Hey Girl collection is at show here on my blog. I made the most beautiful and sweet mini-album with this collection, which I cannot show you unfortunately since it is out for publication. That stinks, and is sweet all at the same time. I promise I will share it once I can. But for today I have this layout.

The patterned papers with the butterflies was instantly one of my favorites, so I definitely wanted to use that one. But since it’s rather busy, I chose to use just a smaller portion and to tone it down with calmer patterns surrounding it. I tore away the lower right corner of the ledger paper and did the same with the brown chevron. The butterfly pattern I placed underneath. Of course I don’t have 3 layers of paper on top of each others, I cut away wathever was not on show to avoid a stack of papers.

The Hey Girl collection has a ton of cute chipboard elements. The speech bubbles and the dress are just a few of them. The speech bubble stamp is from BasicGrey’s Hello collection. I once again  couldn’t keep myself from using some masking tape. Did you notice I keep going back to that same one??

For the small butterflies I used a punch. I added a few of those yellow butterflies in different spots on my layout to lead your eye around the page. The masking tape in different areas serves the same cause.

I added some more stamping with Kelly Purkey, Ali Edwards, and Dear Lizzy stamps. All in  this awesome Wet Cement colored Mid-Tone ink by Hero Arts. I thinks this is my favorite ink in a long time. When first stamped, I always think ‘ugh! no, that was not the right choice’. And then the ink dries, and it all just falls to place – lol. It is awesome!

So, that’s about it for today. I have a sick little boy on my hands during this second week of spring break. Needless to say that crafting has not been part of my activities the last few days. Thankfully I still have quite some projects to share. I hope to be back later on this week. Thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful Life | Scrapperin Belle Pastel

To say I like working with Scrapperin’s Belle Pastel collection is an understatement. The colors and designs are just gorgeous, the stamp set very versatile. I have a new layout to share with you today, one that has turned out to be totally different than I had in mind. But I adore it nonetheless.

These pictures were taken on a picnic last summer. Makes me long for those sunny summer days again – lol. For the title I used one of the stamps of the Belle Pastel set. I stamped it onto an Ali Edwards journaling card. I chose not to use bigger, dimensional letter stickers for this layout. By stamping a smaller title, I believe I accentuated the calmth in this layout.

In the cluster on the left side of the pictures, I used some masking tape and fabric tape. The blue arrows are trimmed out from one of the manufacturers strips from the Belle Pastel papers. I just love little features like this to save and add to a page of project.

On the top left corner, I adhered some of the BasicGrey fabric tape, this one is from the Mint Julep collection. I just love that stuff. The stamp is from the Belle Pastel set, the stitched brad is from BasicGrey Paper Cottage collection. I thought it just fitted the yellows on my page.

RCC78 – Spring is in the Air

Oh yes, it’s March already. No idea how this happened, but the beginning of a new month always means the start of a new challenge over on the Ribbon Carousel blog. This month’s theme is spring, of course. And spring is definitely here, we had the most amazing weather yesterday and today is even better. The sun is finally out. * Ja hoor, het is al maart ondertussen. Ik heb geen idee hoe dat is kunnen gebeuren, maar het begin van een nieuwe maand betekent ook steeds een nieuwe challenge op het blog van Ribbon Carousel. Deze maand is lente het thema, natuurlijk. En de lente hangt in de lucht, we hadden gisteren prachtig weer en vandaag is nog beter. De zon is er eindelijk.

For my spring themed card I used my My Mind’s Eye Honey paper pad. This instantly makes the sun shine, isn’t it. The jar stamp in from Dear Lizzy from the Neapolitan collection. * Voor mijn lentekaart gebruikte ik mijn My Mind’s Eye Honey papierblok. Dit doet meteen de zon schijnen, is het niet. het glazen bokaaltje is een stempel van Dear Lizzy van de Neapolitan collectie.

I was lucky to get my hands on some of that awesome fabric tape from Maya Road. I used another one here on this layout last week. I love the bit of texture it add to the card. The sentiment is from Ali Edwards’ Saying Hello set. * Ik had het geluk wat van dat prachtige fabric tape van Maya Road in handen te krijgen. Ik gebruikte het ook hier op deze layout vorige week. Ik hou wel van dat beetje textuur op mijn kaart. De wens is van Ali Edwards’ Saying Hello set.

Smile | Sketchbook365 March Challenge

Yesterday a new sketch challenge went live over at Sketchbook365, Scrap365′s challenge blog. This month’s sketch was really up my alley, with the many layers, the white space, and the overall design.

Here’s my layout. The picture was taken on a picnic last summer. I went for an almost completely monochromatic design. It’s really an ‘old meets new’ kind of layout, the kind that is my favorite.

I kept the polaroid element, but didn’t add my picture to it. Instead I stamped the polaroid frame from myStamp BOX’ Pixel Perfect set with white StazOn ink onto a piece of vellum. I placed the floral patterned paper from Studio Calico’s Darling Dear behind it and layered it behind my photo.

 

The title is die-cut with my Silhouette, I found it in the Silhouette online store. It has taken me a bit, but now I’m really on a roll with my Cameo. The small label above the title was also a Silhouette cut by the way.

Behind the picture are a number of layers build with tags and die-cuts. A mix of older and new elements. Layouts where I get to mix up elements from different manufacturers and different collections, from different ‘birth’ years are usually my favorite. I like the fun and the challenge of trying to match it all together.

I Love You

For today’s Valentine Inspiration I have a sweet and glittery ‘I Love You’ card to share. I dove into Crate Paper’s Fourteen paper pad and let the pink rule. * Voor de Valentijn Inspiratie van vandaag heb ik een lieve glitterende ‘I Love You’ kaart voor jullie. Ik dook in mijn Fourteen paper pad van Crate Paper en liet het roze zijn werk doen.

The small polaroid frame is from a ‘Follow Your Heart’ paper by My Mind’s Eye. I trimmed it out and also trimmed away the inside, so I had a frame to make my glittered heart stand out. The sentiment is from Ali Edwards’ Sweet Baby set. I love that sentiment, didn’t I tell you the other day – lol. * Het kleine polaroid frame is van een ‘Follow Your Heart’ papier van My Mind’s Eye. Ik knipte het uit en knipte ook de binnenkant weg, zodat ik een frame had om mijn glitterhart goed tot zijn recht te laten komen. De wens is van de Sweet Baby set van Ali Edwards. Ik vind het een prachtige wens, had ik dat al gezegd – lol.

RCC77 – Love is in the Air

Today’s the first Tuesday of a new month, which means a new challenge over on the Ribbon Carousel blog. And this month’s theme … Love is in the Air. I made a set of mini Valentine tags. * Vandaag is de eerste dinsdag van een nieuwe maand, en dus is er een nieuwe challenge op het blog van Ribbon Carousel. En het thema van deze maand … Love is in the Air. Ik maakte een set mini Valentijn cadeaulabeltjes.

Someone take the glitter away from me, please – lol. Oh man, I love glitter! If someone would have told me 3 years ago, before I started papercrafting, that I would buy pink glitter one day, I would have probably been rolling over the floor laughing. And today I have an almost empty pink glitter jar – ha! * Wil iemand die glitter eens wegnemen, alstublieft – lol. Man, ik vind glitter leuk! Als iemand me een jaar of 3 geleden, voordat ik met deze hobby begon, had gezegd dat ik op een dag roze glitter zou kopen, was ik waarschijnlijk niet meer bijgekomen van het lachen. En vandaag heb ik een bijna leeg tubetje roze glitter – ha!

The small ‘I love you’ stamp is from the Sweet Baby set by Ali Edwards. I really adore that sentiment. The small heart stamp is from Scrapperin’s Form & Feder stamp, the ‘Always’ from the Verve’s Stronger Love set. All stamping is done with black StazOn ink. * Het kleine ‘I love you’ stempeltje is van de Sweet Baby set van Ali Edwards. Ik vind het een prachtige stempel. Het kleine hartstempeltje is van de Form & Feder set van Scrapperin, the ‘Always’ stempeltje van de Stronger Love set van The Verve Stamps. Alle stempeltjes zijn in zwarte StazOn inkt.

And of course, since these are tags, these mini cards needed a bit of ivory jute twine to finish them off. I ordered some more of this goodness. I love it! * En natuurlijk, aangezien dit labeltjes zijn, hadden deze mini-kaartjes een beetje ivoor jutetouw nodig om ze af te werken. Ik heb er nog een beetje meer van besteld.

Free 2013 Calendar Printables | Wall Calendar Inspiration

Thank you very much for all your enthousiastic reactions to my free 2013 calendar printables. I’ve seen quite a few cute and gorgeous calendars in progress already. Don’t hesitate to share yours in the comment section. I would love to see. * Eerst en vooral hartelijk bedankt voor jullie enthousiaste reacties op mijn gratis te printen kalender voor 2013. Today I’d like to share some inspiration for my wall calendar. This one is off course more straight forward than yesterdays’ format. Just print, cut to size (15cm or 6″), and embellish. I usually don’t bind this type of wall calendars, but just make a little whole on top of every page to hang it on a pin or nail. * Vandaag wil ik jullie graag wat inspiratie tonen voor de wandkalender. Deze is natuurlijk eenvoudiger te maken dan die van gisteren. Gewoon printen, op maat snijden (15cm), en versieren. Heel vaak bind ik dit type kalenders niet, maar maak ik enkele een gaatje bovenaan elke pagina om hem op te hangen aan een haakje of nagel in de muur.

Free 2013 Calendar Printables | Desk Calendar Inspiration

Sorry to be a bit late with my calendar inspiration, things just kept coming up and getting in the way. But let’s get on with it now. If you want to download my free 2013 calendar printables, check here. Today I have some inspiration for the desk calendar for you. * Mijn excuses omdat ik een beetje naar de late kant ben met mijn kalenderinspiratie, er bleven maar dingen tussen komen. Maar nu lijkt mij een goed moment. Als je graag deze gratis kalender voor 2013 wil downloaden en zelf wil printen, kan dat hier. Vandaag toon ik jullie wat inspiratie voor het bureaukalender.

I printed the desk calendar pages on some white cardstock and trimmed the pages to 10.5cm or 4 1/8″ high. I then punched the wholes for the binder rings first, before starting to embellish my pages. * Ik printte het bureaukalender uit op wit cardstock, en sneed de pagina’s of 10.5cm hoogte. Nadien maakte ik de gaatjes voor de bindringen vooraleer ik aan de slag ging met mijn pagina’s.

After decorating all my pages, I folded a stand to make the calendar sit on my desk. I used an A4 of 8.5×11″ sheet of heavy weight black cardstock. Score your cardstock according to the following graphic. * Nadat ik al mijn pagina’s decoreerde, vouwde ik een staander zodat mijn kalender kon rechtstaan op mijn bureau. Ik gebruikte een A4 blad zwaar zwart cardstock. Ril je cardstock volgend onderstaande grafiek.

Here’s a picture of what the stand looks like on one of last years calendars. Punch the wholes for the rings in your stand and bind your calendar. And now he’s ready to enjoy all year long!! * Hier is een foto van hoe de staander eruit ziet op een kalender van vorig jaar. Maak de gaatjes voor de ringen in de staander en bind. En nu is je kalender klaar om een heel jaar van te genieten!!

You might have noticed that I didn’t start a monthly calendar on my blog this year. I’m taking a little break from calendars. I’ve been making them since August, and to avoid feeling as if I make calendars all year long, I decided to not have it as a monthly feature on my blog this year. * Je hebt misschien opgemerkt dat ik dit jaar geen maandelijkse kalender op mijn blog ben gestart. Ik besloot een kleine break te nemen op vlak van kalenders. Ik maak er al sinds augustus, en wil graag voorkomen dat ik het gevoel krijg het hele jaar door kalenders te maken. Dus dit jaar geen maandelijks kalenderblad op mijn blog.

One Little Word 2013 | Balance

One Little Word 2013. I didn’t think I was going to register for this project again this year. After all, I’m a One Little Word 2012 drop-out. I took about 2/3 of the class last year. My word for 2012 was ‘direction’. And after about that amount of months I felt like I had some sense of direction again, and so I eventually dropped out. I never made a real album for this project and skipped the more creative projects, but I did do the other assignments  and took advantage of the more mental process. * One Little Word 2013. Ik had niet gedacht dat ik dit jaar opnieuw voor dit project ging inschrijven. Ik heb tenslotte mijn One Little Word 2012 niet afgemaakt. Na ongeveer 2/3 ben ik ermee gestopt. Mijn woord voor 2012 was ‘direction’. En na dat aantal maanden, had ik het gevoel wel weer wat gevoel voor richting te hebben en uiteindelijk werkte ik de reeks niet af. Ik maakte nooit een echte album voor dit project en sloeg de meer creatieve projecten, maar deed de andere opdrachten wel en haalde het beste uit het mentale proces.

But then throughtout these last few weeks of 2012, another word/challenge occured to me. My One Little Word for 2013 will be BALANCE. Balance on so many levels in my life: work vs play; cold vs warm; fit vs relaxed; them vs me, etc, etc. Registering for Ali Edwards’ class again, will remind me month after month of this little journey I’m on. So I took the plunge again. * Maar toen, tijdens de laatste paar weken van 2012, vond ik een nieuw woord/uitdaging. Mijn One Little Word voor 2013 wordt BALANCE. Evenwicht op zo vele vlakken in mijn leven: werk vs. vrije tijd; koud vs. warm; fit vs. ontspannen; ik vs. de rest, enz enz. Opnieuw inschrijven voor Ali Edwards’ lessenreeks zal me er maand na maand aan herinneren. Dus zette ik opnieuw de stap.
